Nasty woman. RA is not a “no name” actor. The world doesn’t end at the USA borders. But it does bear out my opinion that RA should have stayed in UK TV where he was a very big name rather than try to make it in Hollywood. With the exception of Aidan Turner, those Hobbit movies did nothing to advance the careers of the actors in them.

So this is an Entertainment Weekly writer? That's so disappointing. What has happened to that magazine? They used to be known for having well-informed experts doing their reviews. But she didn't know who Richard Armitage was? In the old days, the reviewer would have included RA's entire biography in the review.
But then again, EW gave Patrick Melrose a ridiculous C+, so I have very little respect for them any more anyway.

EW fired all their old staff a few years ago and hired cheap personal.
That's a pathetic comment (I wanted someone famous! I don't know who that actor who has been on our cover is!) and I guess it shows how dangerous social media is! Of course, she has right to her opinion but it's so silly to express it in this way when it can affect the perception of your work. She is not a random person on Twitter, she works in the entertainment business. Why to risk to show your prejudices in this way? And yes, I'm also thinking in the PM reviewer bragging that no matter (other's people recommendations) she won't watch PM. She is accepting she literally hasn't see the whole picture! And again she is on her right. She watched what they send to her and wrote her opinion based in that. She also can watch whatever she wants to watch in her free time but how can we (and the producers) believe she has a fair opinion with that revelation. Again she isn't a random person saying it. That's her job!

Wait, so a writer at a major entertainment publication posted (ill-informed, parochial) commentary about an actor/film and is surprised that the actor heard about it?
Did she think Twitter exists in some magical super-secret bubble where her work-related posts don't spread to the industry she covers?
Kudos to RA for his graceful response, though.

Plus, leaving aside her ignorance about RA, her assertion that only previously well-known actors should appear in supporting roles in films, evidenced by her objection to a no-name and suggestion that "Chris pine " or "a Chris" should have been cast , is really stupid for several reasons.

Yes I thought RA showed great class in his reply.

She sounds like a moron. RA was great in Hannibal and The Hobbit.

To be upset when the person you trashed on public media hears about it? She’s a piece of work and has no credibility. RA had one of the LEAD roles in an enormous franchise and she works in the entertainment field? Ridiculous!
