Obama NEVER separated children from their parents and then lost track of those parents! The “cages” you’re talking about that Obama built were in a large store (like a Walmart) and they put those surrounds up for privacy but realized it looked bad. He was hit with a huge wave of immigrants coming in and scrambled to try to find a way to deal with them. Unlike Trump, he tried to house those families instead of kicking them back to Mexico to get kidnapped & extorted and ripping babies from their mothers’ breasts and performing unwarranted hysterectomies on women. Obama also didn’t call for the shooting & gassing of migrants at the border like Trump did. So, yes, Obama didn’t deal with a terrible situation very well, but his response was nowhere near as soulless as Trump’s.
I spent a sleepless, terrified night, so forgive me if I’m snappish.

Here is an article by Harvard Public Helth review about the way Obama dealt with kids during the migrants crisis in 2016, harvardpublichealthreview.org/the-crisis-in-our-own-backyard-united-states-response-to-unaccompanied-minor-children-from-central-america/I remember a long article by some immigrants activists about the physical and sexual abuse suffered by unaccompanied kids during the Obama administration. I will try to find it. Again I'm not saying Trump is better, he is worse but it's kind of offensive to see the press acting like Obama was good managing this issue. He was awful and he opened the door to Trump because the system was already there when he arrived. He didn't need to create anything.

This Washington Post article has a link to a devastating ACLU report about the horrible abuse unaccompanied kids suffered just by the USA government during the Obama administration (they don't mention what Mexican authorities, financed by the American government, did), www.washingtonpost.com/local/social-issues/aclu-immigrant-minors-routinely-mistreated-in-custody-during-obama-years/2018/05/23/b7cb31a8-5e00-11e8-a4a4-c070ef53f315_story.htmlI think it's fairer to post the press article because it has a statement by American authorities saying everything is a lie. Anyway, this is not the report I remember. That one was exclusively about foster homes in which unaccompanied kids were send by the government and sadly were also abused. Again, I'm not saying Trump was better. He wasn't! But it's frustrating to see people think this guy was so good and this one is just bad when the issue didn't began when the last one arrived. And that's not the only issue. It wasn't just that Hillary Clinton was a bad candidate. No one should had lose against a clown like Trump, especially if Obama was so good as some people think he was! Obviously he did something wrong apart of being black! People don't just vote for a psychopath like Trump just because! And after his predictable terrible run he should had lost in a big way. And thankfully it seems he is doing bad with his supposedly base demographic: white men but why is he doing better with minorities? That's insane! I don't think those mistreated kids are voters. They sadly are voiceless but who knows? Maybe the theory that some of the Mexicans who voted for Trump did it because they remember friends or family members being deported by Obama administration isn't that crazy. Pure speculation but Obama indeed is the president who deported more Mexicans than anyone else including Trump! And Biden was his vice President so there is a closer link with him than with Hilary Clinton who did it much better with the demographic. Anyway I think Democrats should be analyzing all this instead of blaming to the voters. It's great that (it seems) Biden will win but why is people voting for someone like Trump? I'm sure it's not because they think he is great, I think it's because they think Democrats are worse and that's worrying!

Just to be clear, I don't understand why people is still voting for Trump. I'm just trying to make sense and thinking in the things that bother me about the other side and how those issues could be stronger to commonsense!
I told my mother that Trump basically won two states thanks to Latinos and she said something similar to what a bunch of idiots but in Spanish! So that's kind of a normal reaction but surely there is more!

We have an enormous racism problem here in the US, and I think, adding to poor education, fear from white people b/c the demographics are changing, loss of economic opportunities, and pure hatefulness, Trump has brought them out of the woodwork. It’s a cult of celebrity based on ignorance, fear, hate & racism. The BIPOC & LGBTQ voices are getting stronger (thank god) and it’s scaring them. At least that’s my take on it.
So it looks like Biden will win (THANK GOD), so we have a chance to right this ship before we go under. But we need to address all these people’s hatred and build a more equitable society.

I like the response from the guy who used the term 'LatinX". Hopefully the message will get out and this word will go away, since apparently it is offensive to many:

Here is a nice article about it, www.vox.com/platform/amp/2020/11/5/21548677/trump-hispanic-vote-latinx?utm_campaign=mattyglesias&utm_content=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&__twitter_impression=trueMost comments below that tweet are very comprehensive but after a teacher told the story of his students confronting him to tell him how much they hated that he called them like that, someone insisted that his students were bigots against no-binary people and that he should do the right thing and continue calling them THAT! Seriously, how someone would think that's a good argument to win sympathizers or allies or whatever? They said it was created by Chicanos many years ago but I would dare to say that those Chicanos didn't speak Spanish because it's impossible to pronounce it in Spanish and just that it's a huge issue if you want to impose it to Spanish speakers! Then it's the little issue that the whole Spanish language is a genered language. Everything has a genre: people, animals, things, everything! So good luck if you are a politician trying to convince the majority binary Latin American community that their whole language is bigoted! Also, again these kind of activists aren't Communist nor Socialists. I doubt most of them are interested in economics but that kind of attitude of this is the right opinion and anyone who thinks different is the enemy of the people kind of sounds like the Chinese Cultural Revolution! I don't think it would help them in their project to "educate" Cubans. Anyway I saw some numbers and Mexican-Americans are still the group of Hispanics that overwhelming voted for Democrats (I do not know what exactly happened in those Texas areas, tho.), followed by Puerto Ricans. Of course, Cubans went for Trump.

Thanks, that was helpful. I’m always on tenterhooks regarding labels b/c I never know what’s correct! 😅
