I have mixed feelings about the possibility of a S2. I loved the series and the books, and I hated to see them end. I’d be interested in seeing what happened to Patrick after we left him - maybe jump ahead another decade? I’ve been re-watching it again, and I want to make sure he had a happy life.

I would prefer another project with the same team.
I don’t know where Patrick could go after the last episode... at least he writes a brilliant book and then he is nominated to a prestigious award but then the crazy jury decides to award a cooking book that was subscribed by error because the author is a POC woman. But that’s another St Aubyn book!

Poor Patrick, he’s been through so much. I just want him and Mary to get back together, have a baby girl, and live a long and un-traumatized life with their adorable children. That would make a lousy series. 😂

What's this? Which cooking book? Lost for Words (2014). The cookbook was titled "The Palace Cookbook". It's one of the Edward St Aubyn books. It was clearly based in his negative experiences with The Man Booker Prize award. Mother's Milk was nominated and apparently it was for much the best book but the jury was more interested in recognize a minority writer instead of a "posho". It's not a very politically correct book so probably is not being really considered for adaptation (at least they change a few things!). It's very brutal in general with the literary world! The main character is not Patrick Melrose but another alter ego. Ironically, there is a pretentious pseudo-intellectual actor who is very charismatic and beloved by women called Benedict! A few people thought at the time that it was clearly based in BC! And the name is clearly a big clue but it was actually Dan Stevens! He was an actual judge in 2012!

Can you imagine the caterwauling chaos that would erupt if Lost for Words were ever to be adapted!?! The social media nazis would explode!
🤣😆😘
It would probably make the Brexit response look like a walk in the park.
Wasn't "Benedict" the character's last name?

I checked and it’s indeed his last name, Tobias Benedict!
