Yep, the rating one. I liked that episode too (especially the end) but since the concept was so similar to the Community one it took me out of the episode, it's like the opposite of parody haha. Someone made this of the Community episode (the ending is different though, of course) but that doesn't even showcase the similarities enough, there were like "4s or above" hallways and studyrooms and such.

I only watched Nosedive from season 3. The two first seasons were very original for me, very different from the things I've seen or read before so I found them very interesting, I even liked the pig one. I think that Nosedive is more relatable, so, though I liked it, it didn't surprised me as the previous series. I've never watched Community so I didn't know about the similarity but from what I watched in that video and what I remember from BM, except that they share the ranking premise aren't the stories very different?

My biggest problem with Black Mirror is that we're expected to believe that, in the very near future, there will be technology to read or control people's thoughts via an implant. Ok, I can go along with that premise. But then we're told that it's irreversible - the implants are permanent and you're stuck with them forever. I find it hard to believe that the scientists who create the technology can't find a way to undo it. It just seems like a very convenient loophole in the plots of the episodes and it takes away from the show.
I had a technology experience with my new car a few weeks ago. My car - like all other new cars these days - comes with alerts for all sorts of things. It's like driving with an annoying back-seat driver who keeps pointing out "dangers" that I can clearly see. But when I was driving home on New Years Eve, a deer ran out in front of my car and my car was completely silent about it. I had to slam on my brakes and skidded on the icy road, but luckily the deer kept running so I didn't hit it. If it had stopped in the middle of the street, there would have been an injured or dead deer, and a damaged car. This happened almost in front of my house. The street was deserted, so I sat there for a minute. From experience, I know that where there's one deer, there are at least 2 or 3 more. So I waited to see if any more we're going to run across the street. While I waited, it occurred to me that I could really have used a car alert for this situation! My car should have let me know that a large animal was darting out from the darkness! I need technology to me know about the potential dangers that I can't see!

I'm ill and going to be tied to the couch until tomorrow at least, so I've been watching episodes from this show and that and a few movies. Before today I only had three episodes of BM to go, so I decided to finally watch the pig episode cause I didn't want it to be the last I see.
It didn't really live up to its reputation, I guess it's much more shocking when it's the first episode of the show you see. It's very disturbing but shockingly enough the way the media and the public behave seems realistic enough. I felt horrible for the prime minister. I suppose the story was inspired by the David Cameron rumors?

I found it very funny. Dark humor. I felt for his wife not for him. Get better soon, igs.

Thanks Magda! 😘
I actually felt the opposite. I thought the wife was being passive aggressive and pretty self-involved. I mean it's not like she was forced to fuck a pig on live TV, so get over it lady haha. I suppose I'd have a hard time continuing that marriage as well, but it's not like he really had a choice.

About David Cameron. The episode was transmitted BEFORE the scandal! I remember people mentioning the episode when that "anecdote" was published in a book/article(?)

Huh, well isn't that a coincidence! I actually know next to nothing about the Cameron scandal, I've just heard that it happened but I couldn't remember at all when. Maybe the people who came up with that story (unless of course it's true...) saw the Black Mirror episode and were inspired. That's pretty sad. Now I only have 'Hated in the Nation' and 'White Christmas' to go. It's taken me....hmm....like a year to get through this whole series - though to be fair I've watched half of it in the last month - because some of the episodes really put me on edge (OMG when I watched Shut Up and Dance and Black Bear my body felt like it was going through a cardio work-out!) I don't think I've ever encountered a less binge watch -type of a show in my life, it's pretty unfortunate that it's a Netflix show now.

I might do one of these lists when I finish the series soon. The only one I know for sure is that Metalhead would be last, I thought that episode was so basic and I never would have even guessed it was a Black Mirror episode if, well, I didn't know it already. The "ooh let's make this black and white cause that makes it more artsy and serious" was just adding insult to injury. I disagree with that list on quite a few points in fact, I don't like The Entire History of You that much, everyone's so unlikable in it that I honestly lost interest in all the characters early on, and I like The Waldo Moment much more than most people seem to! I'd never watch Shut Up and Dance again but I'd still rank it much much higher.
