I just finished it and I really enjoyed it even when it's uneven probably because the improvisation. The last part after the interviews end is particularly boring and corny.
Agreed that the best segments are the "rude" interviews. TBH some celebrities aren't that good at reactions but the pseudo offensive remarks still funny. I think BC's was one of the best, if not the best! Also it seems to me his was one of the longest cameos. At least of the ones not directly related to the plot. There were a few that were so short that I suspect they were edited according to how good was the guest.
BC actually had a few comebacks and that made his segment really funny. I also enjoyed Keanu Reeves subtly acting the not very smart celebrity part in which he is cast by Galifianakis remarks and the clearly pre-written segments with McConaughey and Dinklage.
Of the main characters, I loved Lauren Lapkus. She is brilliant!
EDITED Paul Rudd was also very funny!

I really didn't have patience to watch all this, so just skipped to the interviews - if only B. could finally shave off that mustache! Yes, his interview was kind of amusing, as was Paul Rudd's. Frankly, though, I don't get the attractiveness of this kind of humor. I wish Benedict was finally offer something worthy of his comedic talent!

There are lots of comments on twitter from Benedict fans who don’t like the movie. They like him in it, but they don’t get why the movie is supposed to be funny. It sounds like this kind of humour doesn’t work very well in some parts of the world.
I’m happy that Benedict agreed to do it! The idea was to go after big stars and knock them down a bit, so that means they consider him to be a big star who can take it. And he did!

You have to be in the right mood for snarky comments and lots of eyerolls, heavy, irritated sighs, and general stupidity. I tend to find it funny. Most of the time. 😂
Oh, and of course BC’s a big star. At this point in time, even the amoebas living in the icy seas of Titan know who he is.😃

I’m not sure I’ll watch it. I’m not a fan of “cringe” humour. But I’m sure BC is great. He’s very good at comedy.

I’m not sure I’ll watch it. I’m not a fan of “cringe” humour. But I’m sure BC is great. He’s very good at comedy. It’s not very cringey, though. One of the reviews compared it to Ali G, but that was much worse because the people being interviewed weren’t in on the joke. Everyone is in on the joke here, including the celebrities and the audience. It’s still funny to watch because there’s a ring of truth in the questions being asked. It’s sort of like Jimmy Kimmel’s mean tweets, where celebrities read out awful things posted about them online.

American "cringe" humor is actually very affable esp. compared with British's. Shock humor is another story! It's clear that celebrities are on the joke! The jokes are mostly personalized making references to cliches about the person he is chatting at the moment. Although I think he calls untalented to all of them! But it's clear that the celebrities enjoy being there. They even put a gag reel to assure people that no one was really offended! For example, he makes fun of BC's name and face with BC playing along with semi offended reactions but also being self-mocking himself (he mentions people have said he is "a horse-faced wooden actor") then Galifianakis tries to make fun of BC's British accent and even his fan base (!) but BC ends making fun of Galifianakis' own American accent and pronunciation in the process! So the segment ends with a extremely silly verbal fight about "rabid rabbits"! Then cut to the next scene with Galifianakis' friends lamenting that *insert wrong pronounced BC's name* altered him so much! It's more silly than awkward. The film ends with a message of the importance of friendship and being faithful to yourself! It's kind of cringeworthy but because the corniness not because the humor is really mean!

www.indiewire.com/2019/09/between-two-ferns-movie-review-netflix-zach-galifianakis-1202175435/Interesting interpretation. I kind of agreed. I didn't find Tessa Thompson bit particularly funny but she as BC, Paul Rudd and also David Letterman (who isn't mentioned here but a few people also thought was a highlight) seemed very natural and very much themselves during the interviews. I think that Brie Larson is a great actress but she looks VERY forced here, for example. Her only answer was a fake face expression of disgust. I agreed with the clearly scripted scenes of John Legend and his wife. That was cringeworthy! Dinklage was great IMHO but he ,as Will Farrell in a major role, is just playing a character that happens to has his real name and face!
