I just read a tweet that stated “an apology without change is meaningless.” I don’t know how old these folks are, but I think some of them have a lot of growing up to do. And they need to develop some critical thinking skills, and most definitely a dose of compassion. They’re so hard and rigid in their righteousness!
Wouldn’t it be perfect if the world just conformed to your view of things? 🙄

I see very little of value on it. Mostly it seems to be a place to spread unsubstantiated rumours, lies, and put downs. It seems to be a cesspool and getting worse all the time.

I blame Twitter and social media in general for The election of Trump, The Brexit vote and the probable re-election of Boris Johnson. It really has put the lunatics in charge of the asylum. Seems for many people Twitter has replaced the need for independent thought. Which is truly frightening.

Tbf, there are lovely, uplifting, positive accounts out there. You have to be vigilant about curating your account, as the hate and bile sort of creep in over time. Every few months I unfollow bunches of people, add new ones, and block regularly, until my timeline is shining once again and I don’t feel like escaping humanity and going to live in a cave somewhere. 😂

I think there is a huge study to make about how social media is affecting everyone's minds and making them/us incapable of understand each others.
I just saw one of those activists harassing fan accounts and telling them how BC is playing this evil guy. He just played Satan a few months ago! She believes fans adore Satan or something! I was tempted to ask her what she wants? But I understood years ago that you just can't have conversations on Twitter. Much less debate! And much much less with activists! Still, I wonder what they really want? I know they talked about boycotting it but again that means to boycott a film about a wronged man. A man that was tortured by the same American government they supposedly are fighting against; Or they want to erase the man of the story even if that means to lie; Or maybe they just want a non sympathetic actor to play the part!; Or more probably they just want to moan! And again it's left wing activists attacking left wing people just to show how much more progressive they are! Seriously what can you win painting a film about a progressive cause as not progressive before watch it apart of helping the conservatives that surely will attack it in a few months?
Twitter is like what George Bush Jr. said "You are with us or against us". There is no middle ground. You have to delete, hide or boycott anything that doesn't go according to the "official" narrative.

I dunno, sgev. I’ve gotten into lots thoughtful discussions w/ lots of people on Twitter. A bit of give and take, it’s good. It’s not all bad. And there’s always the block button for people who are being too idiotic.
There will always be people screaming about boycotting movies. It’s nonsense. When was the last (or first) time a movie went under b/c of a boycott? I can’t think of one. Yes, they’re just trying to prove how “woke” they are, but lots of people understand it’s just shouting into the void over the latest outrage. And there’s plenty to be outraged about.
I mean, for all that I hate Trump and the fact that he’s alive and breathing on this planet AND making shitty policy decisions based on stupidity, cruelty, and ignorance, I admit not everything he does is worthy of outrage and imprisonment. For example, he just signed into law a bill giving strict(er) punishments for animal abuse. That’s a good thing.
I haven’t followed the premise of this movie, b/c frankly, it seems awful to me and I’m not sure I’m going to be watching it. But it would seem a sensible approach to wait until the damn thing comes out before passing judgment. 🤷🏻♀️

I’m wondering why an interpreter translated for the child what the judge had said. Why would anyone do that? I would have just told the child that the man wanted him to keep quiet (or something like that). I’m pretty sure that an angry man, a stranger in a strange place, would have been scary enough for the child even without the dog threat.

I guess he or she would had been obligated to do it because it was the order of a judge. A kid so young like that probably couldn't even comprehend where he was or who those people were! All the system is rotten!

I read the article again, and this whole thing is based on the account of one woman who was the courtroom that day. She had previously seen a security dog in the building and said it was likely that the judge’s threat was real. But since when is a security dog an attack dog? I thought they were trained to sniff out drugs or weapons, not to attack children on command.
So after this woman submitted her complaint, the judge’s superior investigated the incident and came to this conclusion: “Judge Couch acknowledged he did not handle the situation properly and assured me it will not occur again.” That should have been the end of it. But the woman who complained thought he should have been fired and she’s still bitter about it.
