Just did my first dry run for packing today. I like to test things our and then start whittling down my clothing items well before we go. I was planning on taking 3 bags on this Tripp but I think we'll get by with just a carry-on each. We'll be gone 25 days total but with the addition of a "personal bag" for Dan (an old laptop bag) and my purse, a carry-on bag each is doable. I might take a folding "extra bag" just in case we pick up more things to bring back. I still have to get ghe e-visas (that are good for 3 months) but it only takes 72 hours to get approved for them and it is all done by email so I'll do that Monday. I'm getting excited!! I’m very impressed! I’ve never been able to master the art of travelling light. My choir is going on a four night trip to Spain (we’re singing in Seville Cathedral on 1 Nov which is exciting). Because there’s a lot of us we’ve been asked to restrict ourselves to the 10kg carry on luggage option to save time at the airport either end of the journey. I’m already wondering how on earth I’m going to manage 😱

We have received our NZeTA "visas" now and I got some wonderful trekking shoes for the trip. Some time in the next week we should get our final travel documents from the companies we are booked with and then all that will be left is to go!
I'm going to take "Grief is a Thing With Feathers" with me to read on the trip and Dan's taking a bio of Doug Gilmour (hockey player). I'll be doing a travel journal in a new thread in this section. For those who want to read it, please forgive me if it seems jumbled at times - we are going to be crossing over a LOT of time zones and the International Date line. That sort of thing always gets me confused!!
The NZeTA was the last big hurtle we had to face and now that it's done I feel very relaxed.

We've got all our tickets and paperwork!
The trip is about 2 and a half weeks off so I'm thinking about it constantly!!
Our travel agent was stunned when we told her we're just taking carry-on only. But I will pack a little nylon bag just in case we need it (and it will make a great beach bag).
I've got to plan a big Thanksgiving dinner for my sister and her husband, so I want to get going on all the little details of the trip before I get busy next week with the dinner!

Your trip sounds so good! I’m so jealous of all the travelling people do!
A few weeks ago, my dentist appointment had to be rescheduled because my usual technician was away on holiday. Then during my appointment, she told me all about her Mediterranean cruise to Italy, Spain and Portugal.
And my cousin last week showed me the man-purse his wife had brought him from Italy. She went to Italy? Yes, he said. Alone, I asked? No, with her bowling team. She’s on a bowling team? Yes, she’s been bowling for four years now.
What??
Why am I doing nothing while others live these exciting lives?

Our travels can't compare to some people we know. One gal we know has been to almost 80 countries!! Including Antarctica and on the Great Siberian Railroad across Russia. She's the teacher who lives and teaches in Macau China. And she travels by herself (she was married for a short time but has been single for decades).
We're rank amateurs compared to her.
