The series is going to have Gaiman as writer.
There are casting news but my hopes of BC playing Morpheus are gone.
First up, there’s a casting description for Dream, aka Morpheus, aka The Sandman, the main character. Netflix is looking for a male of any ethnicity between the ages of 25-34. “He is tall and thin with bone-white skin, black hair and two stars in place of eyes,” reads the description. “He is meticulous in his pursuit of his duties but slow to understand humor and can occasionally be insensitive. He is often self-obsessed and slow to forgive a slight.” It sounds like they’re sticking very close to how the character is depicted in the comic. www.cbr.com/netflix-sandman-casting-breakdown-dream-corinthian/
Both articles are almost the same.
Gaiman is attached to the production as a screenwriter and executive producer.

Yes, I like Colin Morgan too. Benedict is a touch busy MagdaFR, but it would have been nice.

I have the audiobook (with McAvoy performing Dream) and it's absolutely brilliant. Can't imagine the Netflix series to be any better than this. In fact, I'd be very happy for it to just continue as audio recordings because pictures may very well fall short of what be conveyed by words combined with the listener's imagination.

I love your picture. I love The Sandman.
I read about the audiobook and all the comments are that it is excellent.
I'm sure they're going to change lots of things (which isn't bad in itself) for the series. I'll wait to see what it happens.
Good Omens was not bad compared to the book. My problem with it is that it was too faithfull.
But The Sandman wasn't only a story, difficult to live to the art standard.

Thank you! That's my favourite scene of my favourite TS story in my avatar there. I own the comic books as well. Or rather, I got me the Absolute Sandman editions after listening to the audiobook (went from 'never heard of it' to 'biggest fan ever' in absolutely no time ). Love them but I take the art more as a reminder of what's going on in the story than as the final word on how things or people are supposed to look....mostly because I have all those pictures in my head (which of course are the gold standard in visual implementation ). It's going to be harder to ignore the visuals in a tv screen adaptation. Oh well, it might all turn out splendid after all. They definitely will have to make some changes if they want it to be watched by a broader audience. Some of it is really pretty graphic - even for a graphic novel!
