I’m so proud of you! You’re not the problem, even if he thinks so. If he can’t realize what he did was improper and dangerous that’s on him. What a world we live in. Heck, didn’t they lock up Typhoid Mary to stop her?

So Quebec made it illegal to buy liquor or pot without proof of vaccination. First time vaccine takers immediately shot up by 300%. There’s the answer. 😂👍🏼

I was just checking my email before going to bed, and I’m getting my booster shot tomorrow morning! That didn’t take too long at all - I put my name on three waiting lists on Friday, and only a few days later they’re emailing me with an appointment at the same pharmacy where I got my second vaccine.

I just got home and I’m now boosted! It’s been less than two hours, but so far no side effects. They gave me Moderna this time (I had Pfizer for the first two) because they’re reserving the Pfizer for people under 30.
They had sent some reminders for the appointment, including to wear something that provides easy access to your upper arm. That was easy to do when it was hot out, but it’s freezing today, so I chose a short-sleeved t-shirt with a cardigan over it. And my coat, of course. I figured I’d take off my coat and pull my arm out of the cardigan sleeve, which I did. But there was a girl waiting ahead of me who decided to wear jeans with a tiny white cropped top with spaghetti straps. So basically, she was wearing a bikini top under the coat that she had took off while waiting. She was giving them access to a lot more than her upper arm! Is that really the only thing she could find in her closet?

I try not to get political (and really my interest in UK politics is minimal at the best of times), but our idiotic PM is removing all covid restrictions in a week. Meanwhile, it seems like people have become totally desensitized to death. I keep hearing " only 350 died today!" WTAF? I'm raging at this nonsense. I really cannot fathom how we can have the brilliant scientists doing all that they can to stop the spread, whilst idiotic world leaders and their sheeple pretend everything is rosy and precautions are pointless! We're just going to have wave after wave. I could cry. Hugs. So many hugs. A lot of people use those numbers so they don't have to admit to themselves that every single one of them was a person with loved ones and friends. Loved ones and friends who are hurting because of the loss. It is really infuriating and tragic. Anyway, my words can't change anything, but at least you know there are lots of other unselfish people also feeling the same way.

A couple of weeks ago, there was a news story about a gym that has continued to stay open even after the lockdown that’s in place again. Someone saw all the cars in the parking lot, and reported them to the police. The owner of the gym himself filmed the bylaw officer who showed up to fine him. He berated the poor guy who was only doing his job, shouting “Do you feel good about yourself doing this - putting small business owners out of business?”
The reporter covering the story asked what people on the street thought of the situation, and they totally supported the gym owner for doing what he had to do. They also interviewed the gym owner (he also ran a dance studio and daycare centre in the same building), and he said that hundreds of families depended on him staying open.
But I keep asking myself why anyone would continue to trust a business that obviously disregards health and safety regulations? It’s like those bars and restaurants that refuse to require masks - I feel sick just thinking about their level of cleanliness.
That gym owner not only intended to stay open, he took out an ad in the newspaper to let customers know. By the way, his business is in an affluent community. He’s remaining open for rich people!

Between people’s livelihoods and individual responsibility to the community, there’s just so many factor’s going into what’s happening. Yes, the plague is wrecking small businesses and some governments seem to be saying the economy is more important than people’s lives. At the same time we have the Covid and vax deniers thinking their freedoms can overrule their responsibilities which seems to be supported by the courts, and we have people who do need to work to pay rent and put food on their families tables because landlords and banks sure aren’t going to stop knocking on the door. It’s such a mess!
The US government sent $2800 to citizens in total, like that was enough to help them out in a pandemic that’s now entering a third year. We don’t have good masks or decent free testing. They’ve given up on test and trace. The government can’t enact vax mandates. And yet just a month ago congress approved a $700 BILLION military budget. It’s insane.
They’re sacrificing school children in an effort to keep parent’s working (but that’s nothing new in America - we don’t care about our children. Witness Sandy Hook). The whole thing is making me crazy and all I can do is stay home and hope things will improve.
The Spanish flu took 4 years to complete and I had thought we could halve that, given modern medicine, but it seems unlikely now. Great chunks of the world have vax rates under 20%.

@jbc , one of the biggest names in health care in my State wrote a long FB post today about COVID (she is our Governor's sister, btw). At the end, she wrote:
I know it all seems so hopeless, but the people I trust here where I am are optimistic (and realistic) and that gives me hope. I thought of you when I read this. Maybe it will give you some hope, too.
(Still wearing those masks, though!)
