That's a really nice article! Most of the stories I've read the past couple of days have sounded surprised that Benedict is planning tv projects rather than sticking with the big screen. They obviously don't know that he likes variety in his career - tv, film, theatre, radio - he does it all!

I really would like to see him work with great directors so in some way I would like to see him in more movies but on the other hand I'm not very excited with a lot of cinema right now. I found myself enjoying much more old films and documentaries than recent award winning movies! I also prefer modern non-American, non-British movies in general.
I was thinking that part of the excitement of seeing him choosing adult oriented projects for TV is that we wouldn't have to see award pundits "analyzing" his possibilities of being nominated to an Oscar. There is a little of that with the Emmys but it's not so hysterics. Also no one can accuse him or the movie to be made with the sole intention to win an Emmy! I mean no one does that! Adult themed projects somehow seem more sincere on TV right now and there are really some great stuff out there (I loved the OJ Simpson mini-series, by the way!) So just because I would not see the Oscar word in association with these two projects, I'm happy!

I wonder what sociologists will have to say about in 30 years. We can look at the movies of the 50s, 60s, and 70s now and recognize how events and cultural forces manifested themselves in movies. There are some good American movies being made now, but rarely anything really exciting.
