Springing off a question I saw on a Twitter, I wonder if people here have any desires for kiddy friendly roles for Ben?
i loved his reading of The Little Red Hen so much, I thought it would be nice to see him read a series of short children's books or stories. Harold and the Purple Crayon, Aesop's Fables, maybe even a few Rudyard Kipling stories.
When I was young I had a recording of short stories on I would play on the hi-fi. I loved it! It was like listening to the radio and all the pictures were in your head.
Considering Ben's love of literature and his dedication to alternative media, that might be a fun project.

I haven't watched this, I've only heard of it cause it's narrated by Tom Hiddleston. But it sounds like a very cute idea, and something I think Benedict would enjoy. WillShake (2015)Basically it's half live action-half animation Shakespeare stories acted by children. It says there they will be making more of these, but I don't know if they will.

I think he can pretty much do what he likes now that he has his own production company. Melrose is most definitely not child friendly but Dr Strange is so I suppose he will go for a mix of the two. If they ever remake Dr Dolittle I think he would be great.

I think he would do a bang up job in whatever role he decided to do - child-friendly or not, so if he wanted to add a selection of those types of roles to his repertoire I say "Great!" I personally wouldn't have any interest in watching them because they aren't a genre of film I am interested in (in the same way I have never seen his Hobbit or animated roles either) but I don't see why he shouldn't expand his list of projects into that area as well. And if he is motivated to do this because of a desire for his own children to be able to see his work at a young age, that is actually kind of sweet, I think. It wouldn't be like he would be abandon other more adult themes in the place of becoming exclusively a children's oriented movie actor. It isn't an either or situation. I like the idea of him reading children's books for audio tapes. He has a marvelous reading voice. :-))

Doctor Dolittle would be great, a remake of the musical version is long overdue! And speaking of such, Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka would be a perfect choice IMO. It was one of the first movies I ever saw, and I have adored Gene ever since. I don't think it would be any disrespect to his memory to remake it with someone as talented as BC. Gene was not really a singer either, but sounded lovely to me. And we know BC has attempted "Pure Imagination"! Plus he could have his hair its natural color and curly texture, and he would look wonderful in a costume similar to the original, what with the purple coat and all!
And yes, audiobooks of children's stories, definitely!
