We saw this on Amazon Prime tonight and it was excellent!
Keira Knightley stars in this thrilling recent history film about the British whistleblower who was charged with breaking the UK official secrets act over a memo that she leaked showing the skulduggery of the British and American governments concerning the Iraq war.
It's Knightley's best performance yet IMO - yes, even better than her role in TIG!
And lots of other familiar faces are in the supporting cast as well. Matthew Goode, Matt Smith, Ralph Fiennes and even a small role for Indira Varma who starred with BC in Patrick Melrose.
The writing is tight. The atmosphere is tense. The acting of all the cast is top notch! The story is thrilling even if you lived through it all and know what the end results are.
I absolutely love movies like this. Examination of historical moments, pivotal events and people who made a difference. This movie reminded me of All the President's Men, The Whistleblower, The Fifth Estate, The Post, and The Report.
Really, really liked this one and I think it should have got more publicity.
