I watched this earlier, and it was exactly what I was expecting from the trailer. I have to say that I’m pleased that Millie Bobby Brown has chosen to do this after Stranger Things when she probably had many other options. And she’s even a producer on it, so I’m even more impressed.
I really enjoyed it. The look and style suited the story perfectly. Her character as the young Holmes sister is strong, smart and clever - more so than her brothers at times. It’s a terrific movie for girls to see. And the cast is diverse, which we need to see more of in movies.
I think they left it open-ended for a possible series to come, which I would watch!
I don’t know why there’s such a fuss over Henry Cavill. He was a little too bulky and muscle-y to be Sherlock, I think, but he was ok for the small part that he had.

I didn't like it much. I thought it was forgettable. No real characters with the exception of Enola. Black characters were there for the growth of white ones.
Also, too long.
Henry Cavill was given almost none to do, even less than the one playing Mycroft. I don't see the need of this being about the Holmes, especially if they are going to be underused. Why couldn't they just start from zero with a new character like Enola? I'm sure people would watch it anyway because of MBB and Stranger Things.
MBB is good, though.
I laughed at this description of HC.

I was actually referring to the diversity in general. At her school, for example, there were girls of different ethnic backgrounds.
The movie is based on a series of books, so they didn’t create the character just for this movie. I was happy that Sherlock and Mycroft didn’t have much to do. The movie isn’t about them. When I think of all the awful action stuff that’s out there for boys, it’s lovely to see something aimed at girls.
I actually didn’t notice how long it was because I was interrupted and had to watch it in two parts - which happens a lot when I watch movies at home.
I had to laugh when I read this on Wikipedia:
How did they think that Sherlock showed emotions? He was practically a statue!

Does HC do “it” for anyone? He leaves me cold. 🤷🏻♀️

He doesn’t do anything for me. I don’t think I even knew his name until this movie. I’m thinking that he was hired for the role because there’s a bit of a resemblance between him and Millie Bobby Brown.

I heard about this yesterday, so haven't seen it as yet. Surely the sister's name was Eurus? Where did Enola spring from?
As for HC, he's all right, but nothing to get excited about.

The only show I saw with him is The Witcher which I think is based on a fantasy novel series.
In it he's a killer of monsters and is generally fighting so you can't see what range he has as an actor.

Both Eurus and Enola are not in the books by Conan Doyle.

From what I’ve read, Enola Holmes is from a series of young-adult novels. She’s the teenage sister of the Holmes brothers who has Sherlock’s detective skills. This movie is based on the first book in the series. There are six books, published 2006-2010, so before “our” Sherlock showed up on tv.

Quite right they aren't. As I've got the whole set of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, you'd think I would have remembered that.🙄
