It brought back a lot of beautiful memories looking through those stills of Hamlet and reading BC's brief remark about his time at The Barbican. Just remembering clicking on the different sites and Instagrams each night and seeing all that enthusiasm of the stages door signings, the glorious photos of BC, Sophie and Wanda and Tim smiling as they got into their respective vehicles on the night that the first performance ended, the gorgeous pix of Ben bussing a smiling Sophie in the reception room at the press night and of course that wonderful photo that someone snapped of Ben taking his final bow on stage with tears in his eyes.
I also remember the excitement I felt when I got our tickets the first time we went to the cinema to see the NTLive broadcast of Hamlet. I was so giddy sitting in my seat (I even dressed up for the occasion because I wanted it to feel more like when I go to the theatre) waiting for it to begin. I was so anxious to see it again that I jumped at the chance to do an encore (and just recently to do a double encore and introduce my sis and her husband to that wonderful production).
If there is another opportunity to see it at the cinema again I wouldn't hesitate - and if they ever did decide to put it on video (I know it isn't likely to happen, but a girl can dream... ) I would be among the first to put my order in!
:-))

Here is a page 35 Years of Firsts on some events in his 35 years. BC's Hamlet is there as "First NT Live broadcast from the Barbican - and the biggest single NT Live broadcast to date, seen by over 550,000 people worldwide." There is a message from BC. "The Barbican has been conjuring fantastic theatre experiences for 35 years, and my time on their stage was hugely enjoyable. Long may it continue."
