That girl in the video said word-for-word exactly what I’ve been saying about the movie since I first saw it.

I don't think she is a film critic per se but she is a film journalist.
I haven't watched the movie yet. I'm waiting to it being added to some local streaming service! But I think Illumination movies are better than what most professional critics say. I don't know why they hate the company so much! Maybe it's because their movies aren't so complex as Pixar's and that Disney power is just so overwhelming; Or maybe because they are extremely successful without spending too much money as other companies do so their gains are HUGE! Maybe in some twisted way, they think the success is underserved because that but I think they are actually really good and the "cheapness" is not obvious on screen. I remember a critic saying he enjoyed the movie even when the animation was awful. That's a lie! It's a French company who does it for them and nowadays it's a very recognizable style and it's actually adorable. Maybe it's not revolutionary but not everything needs to be revolutionary!
Also they are good connecting with little children. Pixar is indeed superior but the complexity is more targeted to adults than small kids. Of course, children enjoy those movies because they are good but I don't think most kids actually appreciate the tragic parts of movies like Up, Inside Out or Coco as adults do. And they are far far away of the cynicism of DreamWorks movies! They are the only big company doing proper child oriented movies with concepts and messages that are easy to understand by them.

Everyone made such a fuss about Inside Out when it came out that I went to see it expecting a lot! But instead, I was bored to death watching it. It was way too long, and the plot was too complicated for me to follow. Even worse, they kept repeating the same boring scenes that seemed to be filler to make the movie longer. After suffering through all that, they then rushed the last part of the movie - the part that finally seemed interesting!

I would confess that I am not a huge Pixar fan neither. I understand why they are so acclaimed but I thought WALL-E was pretty boring. Supposedly some of the scenes are a homage to silent comedy films but as someone who watch a lot of silent comedy, I was bored to death with those scenes!
I also didn't like The Incredibles too much. I loved Brad Bird's The Iron Giant but I don't enjoy his acclaimed Pixar work that much! (I liked Ratatouille more in a second view, tho.!). Maybe it's because it suffers from The Flintstones syndrome! That's a syndrome I just invented in which a cartoon it's extremely boring to me because they are about adult boring stuff that my young self doesn't understand! 😉 You can say The Simpsons was similar but it was much more edgy!
But yeah, I can see they are more complex, deep and narratively brilliant compared to other companies. Also they experiment a lot with the technique.
Also TBH I think it would be big if in the future BC is hire for a role in one of their movies. They just hired Chris Evans! C'mon!

Cinema Sins has joined everyone else just now discovering The Grinch. They make fun of it, of course!

I call foul. Most of these weren’t Sins. They were nitpicks. 😂

Our Grinch was ahead when I voted this morning. As long as it beats the Jim Carrey movie, I’ll be happy!
