So nice! I love a cold, white Christmas. It was 60F here today, lol. Twelfth warmest XMas on record. Oh, Colorado. 😂😂😂
My fav part of this day is going to bed at 5 am and thinking about all the little kids across my town & the world who got up way too early and are ripping into their presents. ☺️
My brother woke me up one Christmas morning when I was about 4 at 3 am, lol. He was so excited!

I'm a day late, but Merry Christmas everyone! Haven't posted as much this year because ... gestures towards everything. But popping in here now and then and reading everyone's posts, catching up on the news has been a bright spot in 2020. Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas day, and I wish everyone a happy and healthy New Year.

Here it isn't that hot yet. There were some days rather hot but now it is windy and pleasant.
I'm also in the southern hemisphere (Uruguay).

38° sounds lovely! I’m in a cold, dreary place, so hearing about your weather is so nice!
It reminds me of the time I went to Barbados for Spring Break. We visited a family that had their children’s drawings displayed on their fridge door. A couple of the drawings were there from Christmas - Santa, reindeer, snow. I found it interesting that those children living in an island paradise and who had never seen snow (and likely never would) were learning at school that Santa Claus came from a cold place.

We also have those temperatures here in Northern Mexico during the the Summer. Right now, it's warm, around 25 °C but in Christmas day it was very cold especially during the morning, 3 or 4 °C. Probably, people from Canada would think it's not cold at all but the issue here is that the weather go from one extreme to the other in just hours! I remember one hilarious post by band members from Franz Ferdinand when they visited the city a few years ago during a very "extreme" day. They are from Scotland but they were moaning about no one telling them that there are cold days in some places in Mexico! Lol One of them admitted the temperature wasn't very different to temperatures in his native country but they (and their bodies!) were surprised because it suddenly changed in such an extreme way and because they apparently packed just summer clothes!
Snow and ice storms are very rare but my dad told me about a day in the 1960s that was very hot so he went to work with a short sleeve shirt and everything but when he was in his office he received a call informing him a co-worker wouldn't arrive at time because he had a minor car accident because "the ice"! He didn't understand what ice they were talking about but it seems it was the biggest ice storm ever registered in the region! A journalist recently posted on Twitter an old newspaper clip about that event and I'm sure it's the storm my dad told me about.

Those temperatures are the hell, mllemass! Probably not in Barbados, of course! But in a city with concrete around you and not beach, not sea and in general very little water is the hell! Seriously, our droughts are legendary! In the 80s, the water was rationed! I was just a kid but I remember it! Lol This year, it was expected that because the Covid-19 and people enclosed in their houses using a lot of water to prevent it, it would be a shortage but thankfully hurriacane Hanna arrived and we didn't died of thirst! It destroyed the city but well, nobody is perfect! 😉 I prefer the cold! EDITED I checked and it seems Barbados hottest temperature is 30° which it's actually lovely. I have never being there but I know the Caribbean and it's indeed the paradise.

I prefer the cold too. We rarely get above 25c in Ireland so my body just can’t cope with high temperatures. Last year I was in Boston when the temperature was over 40c and I honestly think if it wasn’t for air conditioning I would have died!

We learned, when we were in Barbados, that not only doesn’t the temperature vary very much throughout the year, but it doesn’t vary between night and day, either. It was the only time my friends and I seriously brainstormed ways to just remain there forever and not return home.
The worst weather we experienced on vacation was Cuba. We were there once for New Years Eve, and it was cold, windy and rainy. It wasn’t Canada-cold, but we were hoping for something warmer than low 70s°F. The rain prevented a lot of outdoor activities. They told us that it was typical weather for that time of year, so we’ll never go there again in the winter! Another time, we went to Cuba for Spring Break, and it was so humid that all my clothes were damp when I unpacked my suitcase after returning home. The hottest place I’ve ever been to was Las Vegas in August - what were we thinking?? It was like walking around with my head in a furnace. It’s a good thing that nothing ever closes so that we could walk outdoors in comfort after dark (it dropped to high 90s° at night).
