I was a huge fan of the original L&O and never missed an episode. One of the things that appealed to me was that you never knew how it would end - sometimes the good guys won, and sometimes they lost. Every episode seemed like a little movie!
And when L&O Criminal Minds started, I loved it even more than the original. I was reading a bit about it recently and learned that the character of Goren was based on Sherlock Holmes - very bright, with poor social skills. In each episode, the detectives knew who did it, but there was no evidence so they had to get the suspects to crack.
I never watched SVU until just a few years ago, and then I binge-watched every episode from the start until I caught up. In the past couple of years, they’ve had episodes resembling what happened with Harvey Weinstein and even Jeffrey Epstein.
This week’s episode was based on that awful Brett Kavanaugh. The names were changed, of course, but some of his victims’ testimonies sounded word for word like BK’s victims. The actors even looked like the real-life people involved. I absolutely dreaded the end of the episode, where of course the rotten judge would get away with his crimes. But what a surprise - the fictional story ended differently! I was so happy that I sat there in my living room, clapping and cheering. And then the people in the fictional courtroom also clapped. Ha! It was so satisfying to see how it should have ended in real life for that rotten BK.
