So meanwhile People magazine and Variety want to fabricate some polemic around BC playing a gay character, celebrated gay playwrights and old gay activists (see the Sebastiane award jury) are calling the film the best queer film of the year/decade!

WTF? Maybe they didn't read the book. I thought Phil had ridiculed Peter's father, and been partially to blame for him committing suicide? It changes Peter totally if he just indiscriminately goes around killing people.

I think they meant that Peter would murder anyone who upset his mother, suggesting that Peter’s father was murdered because he had maybe mistreated his mother. But there are no flashbacks in the movie, and no signs that Rose had suffered abuse in the past. And nothing in the movie suggests a creepy mother/son relationship, either, like in Psycho. When we see Rose and Peter together alone in several scenes, they’re very kind to each other and supportive of each other.
