Kodi Smit McPhee said on Instagram that he will do the festivals tour and considering he didn’t went to Venice, I’m sure he will go TIFF. I would imagine that Dunst, too. At least she has another commitment. In the crew part, Ari Wegner will receive a tribute alongside BC so at least she is a sure thing.
I think the NYFF is a bigger question. BC supposedly had to film some scenes for Dr. Strange this month. Who knows if he will finished them on time to go to New York on October 1th.

The local tv morning show just did a TIFF update. There was no mention of Benedict or his movies.
They spoke to a film critic, Bonnie something, who I think has interviewed Benedict before. She said the movie they’re most excited about at TIFF this year is Dear Evan Hansen. It’s premiering on the first night. I don’t remember reading anything about it at the other film festivals, so maybe it’s only playing here. She said it’s the only movie she’s planning to see in person, and will watch the others from her couch at home. She said she won’t be there interviewing celebrities, either, even though there are lots of Covid safety procedures in place. She obviously still thinks it’s unsafe. She also raved about Spencer, which she hasn’t seen yet, and Last Night in Soho - which I think has had terrible reviews so far.

It's the opening title maybe that's why se is so excited and the only one that she will watch in person. It's a Broadway musical and the trailer was very bad received because the main actor looks very old to play a teenager (he was also the star in the play). It's not a festival title and yeah, it won't be in other festivals.

And she dismissed people complaining that the actor is too old because he’s so great in the part. And she also said she knows she’ll be giving Spencer an A+, even though she hasn’t watched it yet. She knows it’s that good!

Imo, BC was too old to be playing a 22 year old in Bad News, but he did such a great job of it I was certainly willing to overlook it. 😂

It was Twitter and it was clear this guy was playing a high schooler in the trailer so they made fun of him.

It was Twitter and it was clear this guy was playing a high schooler in the trailer so they made fun of him. Plus a lot of the mocking I saw was that the trailer was essentially a 3 minute speed through of the film’s entire plot. Which, sure it’s the film adaptation of a popular stage play, but it’s possible some people may not be completely familiar with it? Whereas the trailer was like “none of this is a spoiler for theater lovers and no one else matter anyway!”

TIFF on twitter is asking which tickets people bought, so I had to reply! This is the first day that the public (non-members) can buy tickets. People are now complaining that there’s only one screening of Dear Evan Hansen.

The source is MacKenzie's mother (and Jane Campion's friend, by the way).
