Those fans who attended the event are now complaining about the questions that members of the audience asked him. These fans are the “question police”, apparently! I hate it when they do that. They think that the questions should be screened in advance so that only approved questions are asked. Naturally, the question that most angers them is about Sherlock returning - which is definitely something I would ask!
Personally, I hate the “what is your favourite colour?’ kind of question, usually asked by someone who knows nothing about him and can’t think of anything to ask. Or asking his favourite anything, since we know he can’t do favourites.

I read someone asked him to sign a Funko! That’s not even a question!
I think the aversion to Q&A comes from an early event at TIFF in which a woman made a very cringe worthy sexual comment to him, I don’t even remember the comment! I think I mentally blocked it! Lol! Even journalists, nor just fans, were moaning about it and frequently remember it on social media as one of the worst interactions fans-star they have seen.
A lot of the questions especially to actors aren’t great because audiences aren’t professionals and even professionals are awful doing questions! But yeah, there are a few people who have crossed boundaries in the past.
Of course, the Sherlock question isn’t one of them and I understand that excited fans of the series mention it when they meet him but TBH, I’m not a fan of it, neither. We all know already the answer! I wouldn’t criticize someone who do it because they are asking about work not personal stuff but also because I probably wouldn’t even dare to talk to him nor interacting in any way! Lol But if I have to do a question, it would be about a new project or something more obscure that it’s not talked too much.

I'm with you on this sgev.
While I don't think the question about Sherlock is offensive in any way, it's not something I would ask because I think it's one that HE might be tired of answering.
As you say we all pretty much know the answer and besides he wouldn't be the type of person to just blurt something like that out in an event like this one, so it really doesn't seem like a question for this venue.
BC is all about doing new challenges and Sherlock really doesn't fit into that mold.
I think a question that I'd be interested in would be more about how soon he'd be ready to go back to live theatre or move into directing. I know a while back he said he didn't have the time to direct or do theatre while his children were really small, but that was a few years back now and I wonder if he sees a time-line growing closer now.
I also would like to know if he has seriously considered writing something.

I don't know what kind of questions were asked but the person I saw on twitter furious about them is someone who goes to almost every event with BC. Well, other fans or regular people probably didn't have that luck or don't follow BC's work so obsessively and perhaps they know him through Sherlock or Dr. Strange. They probably don't know that BC is often asked about Sherlock and what is his view on it.
Also, Janet wrote "had a proper chat with Sophie it’s just a bonus . she likes Tania’s bag with lots of Benedict pics on".
Tania's bag: I'm sure S. would never use something like that and to BC, even if by now he must be used to that kind of thing, it must be worse than a lunchbox with his face on it.

Agreed that the Sherlock question isn’t cringe worthy and that fans would always do silly things like carrying those silly bags and showing it to their idols.
The “Funko” question was undoubtedly cringe worthy, tho.! Lol But apparently it wasn’t even a fan but a male autograph hunter!

Well someone HAD to ask the Sherlock question! It would have been rude not to. And if that person is me one day, then so be it. Ha! Seriously, though . . . can you imagine Benedict and Sophie going home last night, discussing how it went, and Benedict saying “Gee, not one person asked me about Sherlock. I guess they’re not interested in it anymore”. Even worse (for me) would be for him to think that we all want more Marvel stuff from him!
I think it’s pretty dumb to complain that he’s been asked about Sherlock a million times and we all know his answer by now. Is there any answer that would surprise any of us? We’ve heard it all before, and I’ll gladly listen to him answer any question as many times as it takes.
