Sherlock is not over until they give him a Bafta! He cannot be the only person associated with that show who has been nominated but never won! That probably won’t happen until he wins his Oscar, but I can wait.
And he is the one that people think when they mention the series and the one with the best career outside of it so it’s another example of how awards are completely irrelevant!
In certain way, I’m glad he won it for Patrick Melrose because IMHO it’s a much superior performance than Sherlock but also because it shows he is much more than just Sherlock. He totally deserved it before it but after they went for the less popular, the working class, the minorities, the ones playing sordid roles they just couldn’t negate his Patrick. He isn’t just Sherlock and I think that’s why some of us would like to hear him talk about something else.
But yeah, fans are free to ask whatever they want. And it’s not nice to judge others for their preferences.
When it came to the audience members’ turn to ask questions, he said there were no plans for another Sherlock series in the pipeline, ‘but never say never’. Asked what the strangest present was that he’d ever been sent by a fan, he replied to general amusement, ‘a spanking bat’.
I listened it. It's a good interview and the Q&A section isn't bad at all. Maybe with the exception of the guy asking for his autograph and someone asking for some internal theater politics but clearly both men aren't fangirls at all! (OK, the theater man calls him one of today's best theater actors!).
He talks about Eric and a little about him maybe playing Pete Seeger next. But in general, the interview is very interesting. He is also very political correct about some controversial themes that the interviewer clearly wanted to exploit like the "evilness" of Silicon Valley moguls and big companies/products bios (Cheetos, Nike, Blackberry, etc). Lol.
He also mentions Radio Man! Apparently, he told him that he will work with Harrison Ford in a new Marvel movie. BC was surprised but thinks that maybe he is right because he knows more about Marvel plans and film projects in general than him!
