Just watched this. A bit too long but fascinating story. I was really surprised she got away with it for so long as her excuses for never paying & behaviour were very fishy & would have been easy enough to investigate.

I was going to post about this series the other day but got distracted. We aren't done viewing the whole series yet - got a bit less than half of it to go - and are really enjoying it.
Definitely NOT a fan of anything by Shonda Rhimes (we've given Grey's Anatomy, How to Get Away With Murder and Scandal all a try and HATED them) but this one is a winner for us, despite SR being at the helm.
That was a pleasant surprise!
The main character is portrayed by one of the supporting actors from Ozark and definitely has shown she has the chops to carry the burden of a story on her shoulders.
I was thinking about this and I think this story has the same structure as Citizen Kane. There's the mysterious entity, who seems to live a larger than life existence, the reporter tasked with finding out who this person really was, the megalomania and narcissism of the protagonist which leads to their downfall.
It's a fun ride discovering just who this greedy gal is. There are a lot of twists and turns in her warped world of trickery and manipulation.
One thing I would like to see is a bit more of examination of just why she was formed into this "uber con artist". But, so far, it seems they are more interested in the "what" she did, rather than the "why".
Looking forward to seeing the concluding episodes for sure!

Will be interested to hear about our thoughts when you’ve finished watching it RP. I won’t post any more of my reactions till then for fear of giving spoilers!

I watched this when it first dropped on Netflix! My issue with most Netflix original series is that the storytelling and style are very lackluster/perfunctory and I had that same issue here, unfortunately. But I did find Julia Garner really entertaining to watch and very cute. She kept my interest and I ultimately enjoyed watching.
