That movie also sounds very interesting! Ricardo Darin is always great. Hopefully it wins some important award today for Latin America because, we never know with juries, but Bardo doesn’t seems very promising.

And the winner is…
Apparently it’s produced by HBO and, like TPOTD, is being screened in every imaginable festival this fall but because it’s a documentary is also being ignored by award pundits!
Colin Farrell and Cate Blanchet won the performance awards. Such a shame that last year they were so mainstream 😉 But yeah, the system is odd and it’s difficult for films to win more than one award (although this year we’re a few!) Anyway, award pundits will be happy with these winners!
Guadagnino won the award Campion won last year. And Jaffa Panahi won an special award. A few saying he should win an important award.

Darín didn't win, Colin Farrell did. Darín's son (who was also a producer of the movie) had already got out of Venice so the speculation was Darín wasn't going to win.
Edit:I started answering to your first comment and have to go for a little while, so my reply was after your post with the winners.

Yeah, they went for Hollywood actors this year. But in the main categories didn’t. Guadagnino won the third place, like Campion last year, so his film is the more “mainstream” with a big one.
It’s ironic that last year, they gave the second place to a Netflix film but it didn’t had a huge impact at the end. At least not like TPOTD! But it was clear that the Italian press was pushing for it to win big! It’s a good film but TPOTD is much better! I haven’t watched the winner yet but, at least, Michel Ciment said it was a “politically correct” winner and that TPOTD deserved it more!

The actress from Guadagnino's movie, Taylor, won the Mastroianni award.

Yes, that’s one of the films that won twice (last year TheHand of God also won the Matroianni award). The Banshees of Inisherin and Saint Omer were the otehr I couldn't stand The Hand of God. I hated the characters, generally males, insulting and making jokes about the women. Absolutely misogynistic.

It’s good but yeah, Sorrentino is kinda misogynistic. He received a lot of flak for his film with Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel (English speaking stars).
I remember that during the day of the award ceremony, the Italian press was literally threatening the jury about it not winning the main award. And yeah, some of them saw TPOTD like their main “enemy”.
It supposedly would made a huge impact and win everything in the USA but it didn’t happened. Drive My Car stole their thunder! And I’m sure the misogyny was an important issue. Americans would never ignore that, nor the very old lady casually (and funnily) having sex with the teen boy! If the Italians wish of it being a huge hit everywhere would had happened, Sorrentino would had been cancelled by now! Lol
I watched the first season of The Young Pope, by the way. I liked more the first part when the pope wasn’t nice! Italian actor Silvio Orlando is great!

This tweet and the comments are hysterical! x.com/nextbestpicture/status/1692623076364529756?s=61&t=zPi8LNXgo1ojcMDphmjG3gThey are already sure that the new David Fincher film will be ignored by the Academy because it wasn’t selected for Toronto nor NYFF! Telluride hasn’t announced its lineup yet! And then in the comments, people are moaning about it and criticizing the Academy like if it already had happened! Lol In any case, they should be criticizing NYFF and Toronto! They were the ones that allegedly rejected it! Or maybe, it was Netflix not wanting to take it to those festivals so they were the villain. Ironically, there are a lot of comments about how Maestro is a terrible film and how Netflix doesn’t trust on it for winning awards this season. Why? Because gossips about multiple test screenings by Jeff Sneider and the Word of Reel site! Who knows? But until now, it’s the most visible Netflix film. They already released a poster, a trailer and even a statement about a stupid Twitter controversy! And, of course, it’s scheduled for two of the four main Fall Festivals!
