And this is why award pundits are so pathetic! A pair of losers are saying this,
Again, I don't think that sites like Metacritic are a good parameter of Film quality but TPOTD wasn't divisive at all! It debuted on Metacritic in the 90s. It was only "divisive" between the sad pundits not with professional critics. Iñarritu's movie is indeed divisive with critics.

Old tweets,
With 13 and 15 reviews,
Good luck to Bardo! But again award pundits are ridiculous losers that “analyze” the Oscar race based on their own lies: TPOTD was extremely well received by professional critics. It wasn’t divisive at all and that reflected on the reviews aggregator sites (nothing bad with divisive films! Although I’m not a fan of Inarritu and, based on his old work, I can easily see his new movie being guilty of everything it’s being accused of), It was the award pundits who decided that it wasn’t an Oscar worthy movie because it was too difficult for their little brains! Lol

Even in the most “populist” RT, it debuted with a 100,
The reception wasn’t divisive nor similar to Bardo AT ALL!
By the way, I posted the tweet by a random. The other one was the “popular” award pundit and CODA enthusiast. I remember there was a conspiracy theory about her working for Apple because apparently she went from loving TPOTD to hating it and completely forgetting about her initial reaction! Lol Very strange individuals on Film Twitter and, who knows, maybe with hidden agendas! I don’t understand why these kind of people have followers who take them seriously after so many contradictions and lies. I guess people are dumb and like to be lied!
EDITED Sorry but I seriously hate liars posing like experts and they bing taken seriously by some. How is this comparable to TPOTD reception on reviews aggregators sites/Venice Film Festival?!
100% is much better than 38%! Again, good luck to Inarritu at Telluride but reviews for his film are more bad than good and it’s far very far away from TPOTD reception which, it liked to award pundits or not, was acclaimed at Venice!

I will post this here even when I posted about this movie first on TPOTD's festivals thread because this shouldn't be related to TPOTD at all! (Although I remember the beautiful reviews by this critic for TPOTD!)
This opinion about Iñarritu's movie is hard! A lot of people are calling not just the film but kinda suggested himself "narcisist"! I feel bad for him but I have to say I see all his movies in similar ways. Even the acclaimed ones. I used Amores Perros for my profesional thesis about female representation on contemporary Mexican cinema and after watched it multiple times, I just hated it! It was not just pretentious but so superficial. Also, I'm always amazed by the hate he seems to have against working classes. Only rich people, even the narcisists, deserve some humanity in his films. The poor are just disgusting!
It's insane that other Mexican filmmakers are frequently viciously attacked on social media for supposedly being "too white" or "white Mexicans" meanwhile this guy who frequently portrays Indigenous people, Arabs and Asians as idiots, perverts and weak creatures is celebrated. Probably because even when he comes from a wealthy world, he isn't literally "white" LOL. His skin is very dark (His nickname is "El Negro") but that only shows how ridiculous are people on social media!
EDITED,
This tweet!
I don't think it could end Netflix but maybe it could end the even now rumored Netflix tendency to give money and complete liberty to "eccentric" auteurs.

Also interesting that Netflix doesn't seems to have a TPOTD or Roma this year. White Noise was well received but not with the same passion of the other two. Blonde hasn't been screened but was polemic since conception so the best reception for it surely would be if it's "divisive" like award pundits like to call everything they don't get!
I thought Bardo would be their strongest horse in this year race but it clearly is not. Actually, there aren't any mainstream film dominating festivals like TPOTD did last year.
Next year they probably will have David Fincher's The Killer, Bradley Cooper's Leonard Bernstein bio and hopefully Henry Sugar. Wes Anderson isn't actually that lucky with the Oscar (he does comedies!) even when he is more an auteur than anyone out there, but his films are always shown at festivals so at least we should have pretty photos of BC hopefully at Venice next year! 😉

Everyone on Twitter has been posting photos and videos of Benedict from last year’s Venice film festival. Doesn’t it feel like it just happened??
And TIFF keeps sending me emails about their film festival coming up. I didn’t renew my membership this year, since Benedict won’t be there. Today, they posted a long list of all the celebrities expected to be there. The guest they seem most excited to have this year is Taylor Swift!

It was a pretty long run for the film considering it ended on March this year with the Oscars. Probably that's why it seems so recent! They promoted it for SIX MONTHS! But yeah, I'm nostalgic. It was nerve wrecking while we waited for the reviews (especially with the award pundits claiming it was "divisive" before the embargo ended! They are so deluded that they are still claiming it received mixed reviews similar to Bardo!) but I REALLY would have liked him to see him there this year again! Timothy Chalamet and Paul Schrarer were there last year and this one, too!
Festivals are equally frivolous like the Oscars but the movies are better! I hope to see him at Cannes or Venice next year with Wes Anderson film. I guess it depends of Netflix and where and when Asteroid City will premiere (I'm guessing Berlinale or Cannes. Netflix probably will wait to debut Henry Sugar at Venice like they always do)

Skipping down memory lane throwing handfuls of rose petals.
All this flashback material is helping my seriously depleted case of Ben-addiction. My god he looked gorgeous! I can’t decide if the blue or the black suit looked better on him, but who cares? The amount of scruff was just perfect (sorry to you scruff haters but I think it makes him look so sexy), and he and Sophie seemed to be having a wonderful time. She looked incredible in the white and red dress and we got the cute “comfort/hands on butt” hug from him.
Sigh. 🥰😍

I just saw this today,
And I thought again about how some award pundits dared to say that TPOTD had a similar reception than Bardo! It had better score than the this year acclaimed Tar on this same chart last year!
Also damn that Japanese critic still hating everything! I kinda love her! Lol
