We got hooked into this miniseries because of Mllemass' recommendation of "I Came By". When we were finished "I Came By" up popped "Traitors" as a generated recommendation. So we thought we'd give it a try and found it very interesting.
It did take at least 2 episodes before you understand what's going on, but it's worth the wait.
It's about spies in the British government after WWII. The acting is first rate. The writing is mature. And the atmosphere is thrilling but not over the top. You have to focus on what is being said at all times because it deals with complex relationships and personalities.
Oh, and one of the actors was in The Electric Life of Louis Wain! Actually about half the cast has starred with BC in at least one of his projects!
The creator of the series is a woman, Bathsheba Doran, and when I looked up her resume I noticed she had written several other things that I liked immensely - Masters of Sex and some episodes of Boardwalk Empire and The Looming Tower.

Do give Traitors a try! We are on the penultimate episode and it is reeeeeeally good!
Very tense! The acting, writing and production values are all top notch!
I like too that the era is one that doesn't have a glut of representation in the TV/movie world - Britain in the mid to late 40s, just before the CIA was formed in 1947. There's loads of historical politics, social issues, sexual politics, culture clashes and just a romping good thriller all rolled into one series!
