No, you can't see anything.
And, you can't join without an invite code.
Anyway it's still very quiet there, people are nice, like when twitter started. To me that I follow few people on twitter -now that I started following some bigger accounts on bsky- it's good. I guess that if you have 30000 followers on twitter and now you have 1000 must be terrible, because you get very few answers and if you use it to promote your work (writer, artist, etc) it's not useful.
The thing that it restricts the number of accounts through the invitation code makes it grow very slowly. Perhaps it's for the best.
Anyway, some days ago it was like dead to me and now it has a little life and if twitter disappears (because I'm not paying) I have a backup account.
Also, no MAGA types. Very woke. Haha. My kind.

Was Twitter quiet once?! Lol Actually, I began to use Twitter massively around 2009 or 2010 for the same reason a lot of people here did, to be quickly informed about where was some random shooting and avoid the place! No film shootings! But violent “war on drugs” related shootings! So, probably it’s impossible to me to think on it like a quiet place. It was a great tool then, tho. It was also more dynamic because you could actually see what was happening at the moment not some algorithm curated thing. Probably, it wouldn’t had helped people here as it did when things were violently hot if it were what it’s today.
Probably, the disappearance of Twitter is for the best. But the same could be said about most social media. Especially, questionable sites like TikTok!

There are some very clever people on Tik Toc (and on Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), but that site makes me dizzy, lol. I swear it’s all a bunch of ADHD creators.
Just set up my Bluesky app (thank you, Magda 🤗), and I’m still sort of figuring it out. It seems very low tech and clunky, but it is fairly new.

TBH I have never visited TikTok! I have seen videos on Instagram and Twitter but the site itself, no. It seems very silly but, more important, is owned by China’s government! That’s even worse than Zuckerberg and Musk! How young people can’t see it! It’s insane!

I have another code. If someone wants it, ask for it.
It continues very quiet.

Probably, it wouldn’t had helped people here as it did when things were violently hot if it were what it’s today. Probably, the disappearance of Twitter is for the best. But the same could be said about most social media. Especially, questionable sites like TikTok! I think I confirmed that Twitter isn’t a good tool like it used to be 10 years ago yesterday. Sadly something awful happened in my city yesterday (you can read the grisly details here: www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-66911902 ) That was obviously widely reported but when something like that happens, things tend to get “tense” so there have been some clashes between police and gangs and probably also between different gangs. There was one minor incident that affected me when I returned home yesterday. I was trapped in the traffic and I thought it was just an accident but apparently it was a persecution by the police that ended in an accident. Anyway, there was almost 0 information on Twitter! Again, that was the tool we used in the past for trying to avoid dangerous situations! That’s how it become popular here. Then when I got home, it suddenly occurred to me to search on Facebook and guess what? People were talking about it there! Facebook! There were also warnings on Waze but only one tweet mentioned it on Twitter! I’m sure people were talking about the incident on Twitter, of course! But my theory is that they just don’t show you all the tweets anymore. I have noticed it before. Maybe it’s some algorithm or some kind of shadow banning of certain persons or themes. Maybe they gave preference to some but that just destroyed the real community service that the app used to give to conflicting places like, sadly, this country. Such a shame!

May I add my sympathies to others sgev for the terrible situation your area is going through.
And to have a tool like Twitter, which used to be so useful for information to keep others safe and lower anxiety, become so fucked up that it loses all relevancy - it's just so disappointing.
