That's Happy St Patrick's Day ☘️ to any of you who celebrate it.
Here in Ireland it's freezing cold and pouring with rain - as it is nearly every Paddy's Day.
Which is why why we spend more time in the pub that at the parade.
Slainte. 🎻🇨🇮🍻(I don't have a Guinness emoji!)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
I was once in NYC on this day, and even though it wasn't a holiday, the entire city seemed to be out on the streets to watch the parade. They said it was the largest parade of its kind outside of Ireland.
And I also gave fond memories of my best friend when I was younger, who was Irish. When we were maybe 12 years old, she made a shamrock out of green construction paper, wrote "Kiss me, I'm Irish" on it, and wore it around all day at school, pinned it to her shirt. She also made one for the principal of our school - who was a very strict Irish nun. I thought my friend would get into so much trouble when we went down to the office to give it to her, but instead my friend and our principal walked out of the office laughing and wearing their shamrocks. It was the only time I'd ever seen our principal laugh.

Yes I think St Patrick's Day is bigger in the US than it is here! Probably because there's so many Irish people or people of Irish descent in the US. Mind you I think Trump is about to kick some of them out - those who are working there "undocumented" of which I understand there are many. I guess they can't really argue with that. Even though I'm no fan of Trump I can't argue with the fact that Irish people should be subject to the same rules any other Nationality living in the States as an illegal immigrant.
But that's a very serious subject for today!
Back to the Green Guinness & Bacon and cabbage.
Thing is I'm a vegetarian and I don't like Guinness so I guess it's just lots of cabbage for me. 😀☘️🇨🇮

I've only celebrated St Patrick's day once, and it was in Bolivia of all places. It was pretty fun, we stayed in a hostel owned by Irish people. Not like a nice little hostel, but this monster of a party pad. I often found hostels of that magnitude off-putting (I like medium-sized, like 50 beds total or so) but it was fun for that night. Ellie if you head to La Paz today you get to stay there for free (cause the Irish sleep free on St Paddy's), get going lol.

Lol. Maybe next year IGS.
As for St Patrick's Day being celebrated in Bolivia, South America does seem to have a few links with Ireland. I know there's s part of Argentina that has a lot of people of Irish descent.

That's interesting, I noticed it when I was in S America but I never really wondered why that is. The Irish hostel in La Paz (Wild Rover, it's called) actually has the distinction of having the highest altitude Irish bar in the world. It was really fun, but I didn't like to stay at those types of hostel chains (Wild Rover, Loki that are huge in Argentina, Bolivia and Peru) too much cause they're very European, the staff didn't even know Spanish. But it was fun once in a while, good party, much people and much much alcohol.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! They're playing Van Morrison and The Pogues everywhere today. You can't get much better than that.
We used to have a tradition here of spanking or pinching anyone who wasn't wearing green on St. Patricks's Day. That tradition seems to have fallen by the wayside - or maybe I've just grown up. LOL.
