I know the feeling about movie options on books. It is happening with one of my husband's books too. Nothing ever moves forward on it (although it has come close a number of times) but twice yearly the interested party pays the fee, so they get more time to explore their options. It comes with the royalty payments and eventually just you stop expecting it to be anything more than an additional sum on the cheque.
Hopefully some day though...
And of course, we never had an interested party like BC, who seems like more of a mover and shaker with the power of a viable production company behind him to back up his interest in a property.
If he were interested in one of my hubby's books I would be dancing a jig everyday!!!

I hope they do your husband's book!
One of the Haigh's book was actually optioned by Alfonso Cuarón. Another big name. Wouldn't it be great if Cuaron were also interested in HTST?

I do too, sgev! One time they even had locations selected and had a shooting script registered but the funding for it fell through (it was a joint effort between parties in New Zealand, Australia and Canada).
I think it would be wonderful if Alfonso Cuarón were to sign on to HTST. I think a film of this type would be right up his alley and it certainly would result in an interesting director for BC to work with.

We can say they kind of work together in the Jungle Book movie! Or at least it was reported Cuaron was hired to fix (or trying to save?) the footage!

Well, that is good news. I wasn't that enthusiastic about the writing of TToE but at least it can't be said that BC and this project couldn't attract a commercially successful scribe to pen this one!
Perhaps the material will be enough of a good basis that it will practially write itself!! LOL!
Good for HTST for going for thee gusto on this!
