What makes me happy about this movie is remembering when Ben said his production company wanted to focus on underrepresented groups and to tell stories by women and other minority people and groups. This film seems to fit that bill precisely with its female oriented gaze. I’m glad he’s living up to his precepts.

Such a shame isn’t receiving too much attention. There is another negative review on The Daily Beast but nothing more! (By the way, that review describes BC’s scene so, for those who cares, spoilers!)
I hope it has a bigger impact at the London Film Festival but it’s still sad that it’s being ignored. I guess if they would had the actors there it would had made more noise.

I can absolutely understand why this movie wouldn’t be for everyone. The book itself was unusual in the way the story was told - and that too wouldn’t be for everyone. It’s a little movie from a little book, and it’s about a woman.
The director said that they specifically didn’t want men to seem to be rescuers while the women needed rescuing. Maybe some members of the audience found that to be too far-fetched?

Do you have a link for that second negative review? I agree if the cast were at the festival more publicity would be coming down the pike. And that in turn would help the movie. But it is what it is unfortunately. From what I've seen on Twitter people seem to be impressed with it. But I haven't been on any other sites to compare to Twitter, so my view might be very skewed.

Do you have a link for that second negative review? She meant a review other than the one by screendaily, which is -the negative one- on The Daily Beast. I read it and then another one from the same guy and I don't like that style of reviews. They look more like recaps. For instance, describing BC´s scene didn't contribute much to the review. There is a third one -positive- on RT: fangirlfreakout.com/2023/09/10/tiff-review-the-end-we-start-from/IIt's from a wordpress blogger, she is "a proud member of the Critics Choice Association, Alliance of Women Film Journalists, and Washington DC Area Film Critics Association. Did you see the Tweets and Reactions thread? There are more positive reactions. In some of the tweets there are attached other reactions or mini-reviews.
Here is another review from letterboxd. I included this type of reviews in reactions.
