I think Dev is damned handsome but nobody takes BC’s place in my heart. And for you young people, Ben’s “lady” was no lady. She wasn’t wearing a slip, stockings, or gloves. No proper woman in 1959 would go out without those items, although she did have her hat. Wes should have consulted an old, like me. 😁

Don’t get me wrong! He is cute! The same with Chalamet! They just look very young! Even when they are around 30!

I’d choose Patel over Chalamet any time!

I had to compare films. I haven’t watched The Green Knight, which supposedly it’s a masterpiece, so without including the Wes Anderson’s shorts, I fear I would go with Chalamet! I mean I thought David Copperfield was awful and he was slightly bland in it! I like Iannucci but that was pretty weak and I don’t understand why it was so acclaimed. The rest of his filmography isn’t very interesting. Chalamet has CBYN and The French Dispatch. So that’s 2 points for Chalamet and 0 for Patel. I guess they can tied if we count the two short independently Or 2 vs 1 if it’s counted like just one film. Of course, maybe I need to watch more of their films. EDITED Although TBF Chalamet’s segmentin The French Dispatch was the weakest but still much better than David Copperfield! EDITED 2: I remembered I posted here before about how much a I hated David Copperfield so here is my old post benedict-cumberbatch.freeforums.net/post/30048/threadI wasn’t the only one who hated it! By the way, that’s an example of a movie which it’s superficially pretty but without any deep. Wes Anderson’s films aren’t!

Lol, sgev, you’re talking about acting abilities and Inner soul whatever-ness and I’m talking about who’s just physically more sexy. 😉
The view from the shallow end of the pool is very nice and free from any sign of intelligence, haha!

They are kids!!! They can’t be sexy! It’s illegal! 😉 Ok Patel is 33 and Chalamet 27 but my point was that they still look like teenagers! That’s why I though it was funny that my reaction to Patel playing the old accountant was “he looks so fake” when I just had saw Ben Kingsley playing a 20 something version of his character and a “young croupier” AND BC supposedly cheating people with a series of silly costumes! EDITED Seriously, maybe if he had physically acted a little and bending his back a little. He just was too thin and straight. Well, I guess it was part of the artificiality but it was funny that I just didn’t think too much about Kingsley moaning that he will be an old man when he finished his spiritually training beyond a laugh! But when I saw Patel I thought “wait a moment, he is just a kid! He doesn’t look like an old man at all!” I think I found more funny the lines about Kingsley being a young man than his costume.

I have a rule that I never crush on someone young enough to be my own offspring, and for the most part I’ve stuck to it. Ben technically comes pretty close to breaking it as he’s 19 years younger than me and I suppose I could have birthed him, but when I think about that I choose not to think about it anymore. 😂
But it’s weird that I don’t really find all those cute young guys sexy. Tom Holland, for example. He’s just way too young to have any sex appeal. Even Patel, although I think empirically he’s handsome. And I just can’t with Chalaumet. At all.
You’re right about the old accountant! If he’d scrunched up a bit it would have helped. Well, not everyone can be as brilliant as BC with his stable of different walks, voices, body angles, and even girly foot twirling. I was struck, yet again after seeing Sugar, how talented he is with physically inhabiting different people, down to the tiniest mannerisms.
I did love his make-up artist, too. Very temperamental, lol. Did you notice how he pitched a little hissy fit when the assistant handing him Kingsley’s eyebrows hadn’t unstuck them? It was just a nanosecond which goes to show how good he is at building and exhibiting those tiny character touches.

Patel born in abril of 1990 so I was 12 years old then no, he can’t be my son! Lol It’s just incredible that he still looks so young! It should be great at least in real life but I have always think it’s not good for actors. The serious ones! You can be a star, I guess, like Tom Cruise! But even him stopped aged (thanks to surgery!) when he was about 30!
But Patel plays adults. That’s not the case with Chalamet! So that’s a negative point for Chalamet!

Yes, Queenzod, I agree with everything you say. Sure, Benedict is too young for me, too, but who cares? It’s not like I’d have a shot at him if he were older. Technically, the age difference isn’t creepy for a crush if I only knew him when he was already an adult. (A rule I just made up)
Tom Holland is kind of cute for a kid, I guess. And Chalamet has zero appeal, in my opinion. In fact, I try to avoid anything he’s been in.
I’ve seen Dev Patel in a few things and I’ve liked them all.
