There is another of these breaking news hacks reporting it but you have to pay to see his “scoops”. Anyway, because the other articles of The Cinemaholic site, I think they all got the information from a casting site (their “exclusives”are mostly about shooting dates). And yeah, yesterday Production Weekly indeed reported about a project called The Roses, www.productionweekly.com/production-weekly-issue-1395-thursday-march-28-2024-187-listings-43-pages/?hilite=rosesI wonder why World of Reel deleted it, tho. Still a better confirmation would be it reported by a more mainstream outlet.

I forgot that there is another Jay Roach project that I have seen and was VERY impressed with - All The Way!

Oh, the World of Reel guy posted it again with a sarcastic comment that “we can do without it”. The first comments, you know the brainless people who automatically agreed with the main post, well, totally agreed with him even attacking Colman and BC but someone later agreed with what I said above: these are the kind of remake that aren’t so bad idea because the originals, even when they were well received and were a hit at the time, are kinda forgotten.

Someone remember if there was a similar reaction with Cooper’s A Star is Born or other movies that have been remaked a few times? What about comedies like My Man Godfrey?
It’s tiring not to hear about new original projects but there is an over the top reaction especially with, you know, accessible comedies. I understand with something like The Night of the Hunter because it’s a unique extremely visual film but like someone wrote recently in Twitter: it’s such a classic that there is 0 risk for it to be topped, especially if you think the new creators are talentless, so why to worry about it!

Yep, the got the info from a casting site! lol
Kinda disappointed that they made the…not very thin kids athletic. I guess it’s politically incorrect nowadays but it would be funny to see people offended! lol If I remember well, Douglas character criticize Turner because she always gave the kids candies and will make them fat. Then later you saw them and yes, they are fat. I think that’s all I remember about the movie!

I don’t do so well with dark comedy b/c I don’t really get it. It just seems cruel to me. I remember I didn’t care for the original very much but then again I’ve never been married or divorced so I don’t understand that urge to hate/kill your spouse. But I love both Olivia and BC so have at it, I guess. But I do remember how powerful and well made the original was. It certainly has stuck with me over the years. That was some A listing casting, for sure.

Oh God not Olivia Colman. Everything about her irritates me. She is so overrated - in my opinion.

Another casting site adding the project yesterday, actorsaccess.com/projects/?view=breakdowns®ion=5&page=3Those names are the casting directors and contrary to other titles, it doesn’t include the starting date but, http://instagram.com/p/C5CI3HsPWWy That’s one of them and it says they will shoot it from June to mid-August this year. So apparently it will be a British version and the kids sound very different to the passive ones in the original (if I remembered them well!) EDITED I just saw that actually the youngest version of the kids are “un athletic”! lol Will they actually do the “fat joke” in the original? Are they searching for chubby kids?!

It was a funny joke but I can see it not going over so well in this day and age, but I hope modern keyboard warriors don’t stop them.
