I watched this earlier, and it's just not my type of movie. I really thought that Doctor Strange had opened my mind up to superhero movies, but it really didn't. This movie looks awful. Is Benedict going to be in it? Unless it's a significant role, I might just have to skip it (I can't believe I just said that!)
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to give Guardians of the Galaxy a try. I stuck with it for 30 minutes, which was 15 minutes too long. I usually know I'm going to like a movie within the first 15 minutes, so if I haven't checked the clock in that time, I'll watch it to the end. But after 15 minutes, it was terrible, and after 30, it was worse. So I switched it off. The only good thing about it was the 1970's soundtrack - which I bought on iTunes when it came out. They played 3 great songs in that half hour, which helped me block out the bad acting, special effects and plot. It really did seem like they were making up the story as they went along. I was especially surprised that Chris Pratt was basically just playing his character from Parks and Recreation!
And they're making a sequel, so somebody out there must have liked it more than I did!

I think Ragnarok looks awesome! Cate Blanchett! Wow!
I'm sorry you didn't like GotG, Mllemass. I loved it and cannot wait until the sequel comes out two days before my birthday. I'm in love with baby Groot.
They're fun movies. Just a bunch of nonsense and punching. With LOTS of cute boys. 😍

I'm all for fun and nonsense, but I just didn't see that in the first half-hour. I agree that the tree guy and raccoon might have been interesting, but there wasn't too much of them in the part that I saw. I would say that I'm too old for these movies, but I never liked movies like this - at any age.

I refuse to believe a Taika directed film can be even remotely awful. The man is way too talented. What we do in the shadows, Hunt for the wilderpeople are great great films. He has this great and unique sense of dry humor all the while being a terrific filmmaker.
Would love for Benedict to work with him in a lead role.

Yes, Cate. For what I read the Thor movies are some of the weakest in the MCU but Loki is one of the best villains (or the best?). I hope Hela-Cate will be great. Mads Mikkelsen was so underused in Doctor Strange. She looks wonderful with dark hair.

I had no idea that was her! I'm impressed that Marvel didn't cast a 22-year-old (she's 47!).

Marvel has done well recently about hiring non 22 year old women in some roles. Rachel McAdams was age appropriate, and I'm glad they're allowing some senior citizens like Cate to try their hand. Lol.

Cate looks so fierce! Marvel has a villain problem, Loki's awesome and I like Bucky (more as a concept than a character cause I've only seen 1,5 of the 3 Captain America films lol but I love him thus far!) but otherwise their villains tend to be underused or fairly superficial. Their Netflix villains on average do better I think (although again, I probably haven't seen enough to properly judge.) So I hope Cate's Hela impresses!
It seems to have a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe but while that's my favorite Marvel movie the tone's just all wrong for freaking Ragnarok. So due to my issue with this film's sub-title I doubt I'll ever be able to judge it fairly... :/ I've been hating on this film since like 2015, at one point I harbored this hope that they'd just change the name but at this point it seems too late for that. Oh well!
