I tend to look at the crazy Haters with a curious, analytical eye of a reporter most of the time.
I think that's why their blatherings don't get to me at a deep emotional level, enough to overtake my joy that I feel about BC and the fandom.
What they do and how they act does anger me from time to time, but my reaction is one of a determination to refute what they say with facts. That's my reporter instincts.
I was trained as a reporter, worked as a reporter, married a reporter, befriended many reporters and lived almost all my adult life among the world of reporters.
I view the Haters as something that has to be investigated and exposed with facts. It's like an "assignment".
This, of course, doesn't negate anyone else's feelings on this topic. They're absolutely legitimate and if listening to things the Haters say bothers you so that you can't enjoy the other wonderful aspects of the fandom or alters your mood in your general life, then I understand totally if you wish to avoid them completely. That makes complete sense!
My take is probably unique to me, just because of who I am and my background.

After reading mllemass post about Shotgun Wedding I had the bad idea of watching the trailer and it looks awful. Apparently is not about JL getting pregnant (I hope!). The director is the same from Pitch Perfect which is horrible imo. I agree with mllemass and sgev1977. At least now I know what to avoid. Never understood the praise JL received for Hustlers.
This was one of the movies with A. Hammer.

To be fair, I really liked Maid in Manhattan, and I watch it every time it shows up on tv. But then I really enjoy movies that show the mundane work involved in the jobs I know little about - in this case, what it’s like to work as a maid in a hotel. I also liked Shall We Dance, but I thought JL ruined the movie! Every time she had a scene, I was sure I could hear the screech of brakes as the movie came to a stop, and then continued as usual after her scene was over.
And after tons of people insisted I watch Pitch Perfect, I finally gave in and did - and I hated it. I just couldn’t get over that they couldn’t find one good-looking male actor to be in the movie, and yet all the female characters were stunning beauties. Ugh! That’s one of my pet peeves!

I have seen a couple of Jennifer López movies (Maid in Manhattan, Boarder Town and An Unfinished Life) and I will be generous and say they certainly weren't for me. I think she is a really subpar actor. And the films that she acted in were... terribly written IMO.
Really, there ought to be some kind of law stopping people like her and Nicholas Cage from doing movies. It's painful to watch and a waste of resources.

Ah, I can tell you everything you need to know about working as a maid in a hotel, as I did it for many years. It ain’t glamorous.
For starters, the pornographic novels left behind, used condoms, etc. Once they took the entire bed apart so the mattress was on the floor and I had to put it back together, once some bacchanalia had occurred and they had squish danced about 2 pounds of grapes into a thick shag carpet (blue and red! Remember those?) which could not be vacuumed up so I had to go around on my hands and knees picking them out of the carpet. Took about an hour. Stolen toilet paper, Kleenex, ashtrays, and towels. The front desk was running a prostitution ring (at a Holiday Inn!), and they’d give one of your recently cleaned rooms over to the prostitute and then report it as not cleaned so you’d have to do it twice but only get paid once. No union, minimum wage (or maybe you got paid like $4.50 per room? I can’t remember - this was back in the 70s). They’re dock your pay for whatever flimsy reason they chose. Crabs in the employee bathroom which they refused to clean up. Swabbing pubic hairs out of endless toilets using some horrible, noxious cleaner, changing bed sheets, wiping snot off mirrors. So many beds to change. Sometimes there was only one person staying in the room but both beds had been used so you had to do them both. Did they get up at 2 am and change over to the other bed? It’s a mystery! Never any tips, no matter how filthy and disgusting they left the place. And if you got done early you had to help out in the laundry which ran 15 hours a day, all towels and sheets, constantly washing and folding.
To sum up, it was a horrible, usuary job.

Ha!
You poor thing - it sounds awful! I certainly didn’t think that job (or any job) is glamorous, but it’s still fascinating to me. I guess I’m just always curious about what people do all day in their jobs. I loved 9 to 5 for that reason. I still have no idea what kind of business they worked for, but the busy office cubicle setting looked so interesting. The only workplace-setting tv shows we see are mainly police/legal shows, or medical shows. But those seem boring to me.

I read another gossip article with the photos. They said he has been very nice with fans and photographers but that he was very angry there (it’s actually very noticeable!) and that he not just asked but threatened the paparazzi with sue them if they dared to post the kid’s faces.
I hope they have a more peaceful time in South Argentina.

When I was a teacher I always treated the cleaning staff with the utmost respect and befriended a number of them. I never understood anyone who looked down on service people.
Before we left for India, while we were in Toronto, madly trying to connect with our travel agent and the Indian consulate to get our emergency visas, I had to rely on the staff at the front desk for all sorts of favours in order to get faxes done and things sent away. They were extremely understanding and helpful and genuinely interested in how we were managing and the results of all of everyone's efforts. One of the gals who was helping us out gave me such a spontaneous hug when our visas finally came through! And we got our last breakfast with them for free (and this was an exprensive breakfast, about $20 a piece - a real banquet!). I am a true believer in that you get back what you put into the lives of others. You put out grouchy, haughty vibes and you shouldn't be surprised when others reflect that back to you. And that starts with chambermaids and cleaners!
