Not sure this is the right place to put this, but Paul McGuigan is reportedly potentially up for the next Bond film apparently. His direction and vision was critical to the success of "Sherlock" in my opinion. And even though those that followed were having to walk in his footsteps to a large extent, still none of the other directors used have matched him. And now there's Bond potentially in the offing apparently. Shame the Brian Epstein film never materialised!

I like that this rumour has people excited because of what he did with Sherlock.
I think both Andrew Scott and Louise Brealey have said in interviews that being part of Sherlock has changed the careers of everyone involved.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Daniel isn't up for it and Paul gets to decide who he wants for the role (if he gets the part) and asks for Benedict ? I know that's quite the stretch but I've always wanted Bond to go in a new direction and firmly believe Benedict would make for a different albeit great Bond.

I think he'd make a great Bond, but I don't necessarily want him to do it. It would be great if he were officially offered the part and then turned it down because he was busy doing something more important.

That's too, too far a stretch for me, I think, although I did think the prospect of BC playing Ian Fleming in the film that Duncan Jones was to direct once upon a time, was pretty good. And, of course, Bond is unusual in that the director doesn't actually get the choice re who plays Bond. That decision is all down to Barbara Broccoli. But then again, there was the rumour out of apparently nowhere a while back that Barbara Broccoli had actually asked BC to do it. If that was true, which I think is a bit unlikely even apart from his being a bit too old to start playing Bond now, I think he'd have refused anyway. I don't think he's want to take on that very heavy commitment. I always thought there was a possibility he'd play the Bond baddie one day, though, and if Paul McGuigan does get the gig (and the nature of the baddie role is appropriate) I think I would be quite surprised if there wasn't at least a conversation about it. Still not sure BC'd necessarily want to do even that, at the moment, though, either. Maybe in a few years time, but not now.

There is not a single circumstance in which I want to see Ben associated with Bond films in any way, shape or form. He's better than the Bond franchise. Sooooo much better.
