Yeah, of all the twists they could float in, that is the one that would completely undermine meaning, character development, and emotional connection.
I agree that twists are fine, if they force the audience to look at the story, characters with fresh eyes, but that twist just seems like a twist for the sake of a twist, which is, as someone once said ...
"a bit not good"

She is the Ida and Disobedience scriptwriter! Her movies have been very acclaimed! The most recent is Colette with Kiera Knightly. I guess if we post her RT chart it would be much more fresh than Knight! But he has a longer career and still is very loved despise his recent stumble. Still, she is linked to a feminist/queer cinema so it should be interesting what she does with this script.
About the plot, who knows? It could be an error ...or they changed the script. At some point Gyllenhaal character was an actor and not a journalist! And the site was Sri Lanka instead of Rio. The Guadagnino’s version.

I love how Ana María Bahiana is discussing with Brazilian fans if the movie will be shoot in Brazil or Sri Lanka! She is another just fan! I think Sri Lanka was considered because Guadagnino wanted to located there the story. I don’t think it was about security at all.

Ooh, now I want BC to play in this one, too. I picture a creepy Wreckers-type performance, where you're never quite sure about the character.

I saw there was an actualization on Production Weekly new issue (which I don't have access. Too expensive!). probably they added Rebecca Lenkiewicz. Anyway I found a free sample from September: www.productionweekly.com/091318cc.pdf

One can't be sure that plot synopses are accurate, but the latest synopsis does rather sound as if there might have been a change. And was the reference to production slated for the Autumn new or not?

It’s definitely new. Before that we only knew about Berger hiring and he saying that the film depended of the two stars schedules.

This site claims to have a few movies shooting schedules exclusives. I guess they have access to some industry publications:
I saw a few Brazilian sites are already reporting it.
