Someone understand German?
It seems I was fooled and he actually never mentions Rio here but according to a note in the English transcript, Berger is not yet sure if he will do an Autumn project. Early this year he mentioned it could be a conflict with the two stars schedules.

I'm a bit confused. When was this interview? So are you saying the latest news is that Berger isn't scheduled to do "Rio" this fall?

It's the podcast in German.
Apparently he said he probably would shoot a movie in the Autumn but he isn't still sure. He didn't named the film but it's surely Rio.
He said before that he hoped to do the movie this year but that it depended of the actors' schedules.
EDITED: He said it in November,
The podcast was posted a few days ago and he talks about his new film so I'm guessing it was recorded around the time of the Berlinale ir after it.
He recently was in the UK for the recent Patrick Melrose screening.

Thanks for sorting it out for me. Just so I read you correctly the very latest info is from the podcast which was done in or around the time of the Berlin IF event in February. And he was recorded, at that time, saying he was going to film "Rio" hopefully in the fall of 2019.
The "I don't know when/depending on the actors schedules" info was from earlier last November, right?

I read the last note and somehow I thought he was talking about Rio (his Autumn project) but it seems he is talking about a Bryan Craston thing! He says he is "undecided" about it! If it's true that both projects are scheduled for Autumn then there is a clash! Probably that's the reason he is undecided! We need more info!

Well that's disappointing. Thanks for your clarification efforts anyway.

This film seems doomed. First Guadagnino, now Berger.
Good for Berger receiving offers from Di Caprio and Craston.
