I think the folks that didn't recognize that humor were just a few. Most people got it. There will always be people who read things differently. Either they're not interpreting cues correctly, have lost their sense of humor because they're so enamored of the person, take everything too seriously to start with, don't think that kind of interaction is funny, or any number of reasons. I mean, tjlc is based on an entirely different reading of Sherlock than what the majority saw. They looked at John's reaction to Janine as jealousy. Most people saw that as amused confusion. I'm not saying they're wrong, it's just a different interpretation.

Well QZ I am going to reply to your comment in 2 parts. First, here for the part about the humorous banter that AM and BC had at D23 and then I will move to the thread about the Haters for the part referring to TJLC folks. :-))
First about the satirical interview segments - Yes, different people interpret humour in different ways. I accept this and agree with you on that point. Humour, like a lot of things is subjective. But that wasn't what I thought was being discussed here.
I thought the poster who brought this point up was saying that there were a lot of commenters on social media who were seriously showing some type of disapproval with that whole "chaperone" thing in the videos, as if it was a significant amount of people. If this is true then I am still puzzled by this apparent lack of recognition of what I considered clearly a decidedly silly situation which was laughed about by all the involved parties right on the videos.
I don't doubt that some folks out there didn't find it funny (as in a lame attempt at humour) but to not recognise that it was supposed to be a certain type of humour is what I find so puzzling. And I think it is probably more of a newly minted social phenomenon than just someone's subject opinion as to what is funny or not. I think that was made clear when BC in one of the videos purposely said outright that he wanted to make it clear that this was all just said in jest. And to me it is a sad day when humour like that has to have that kind of proviso attached to it, so people get the point.
I think I agree with "Dreams" when she stated: "I think, as well as an extension of the ridiculous perception that any and every idiot is supposed to be allowed to be judge and jury online now, with bandwagons of outrage, even when there's no conception that people should actually be supposed to know something about whatever it is they want to flap silly mouths about... BC has obviously learnt a hard lesson in that the most innocent comment or joke may be jumped on by those so inclined, just because they can. It's a difficult world now for those in the public eye, when the most well intentioned thing can be misconstrued (be it through malice or stupidity) to potentially devastating effect"
"Bandwagons of outrage" - perfect summing up of a lot of the reactions you see on the internet.
And now I will move this over to the Haters thread to talk about TJLC comments. Thanks for your patience with this (and thank you for your interesting comment!). 🙂

The people that didn't get it, didn't get it because they didn't want to get it. They just wanted a reason to bitch. 😴

I was going to add that English might be a problem for a lot of people. Maybe we forget that the entire world is online - not just English speakers. There are lots of times on Twitter when everyone is saying a particular tweet is hilarious, but someone will say "I don't understand. Why is it funny?". They're not disagreeing - they're just asking for an explanation, and someone usually does explain it.
