What's the pilikia? So he's got dual citizenship now. What's so bad about that? Are people complaining because he's bailing on England because he's anti Brexit? Is he not allowed to have an opinion or to move to another country if he wants? I don't get it.

I didn't feel that they were complaining.
His two children have Italian names. I like that. I also like Colin Firtf.

My father once told us that my sister and I could have for dual citizenship (Canadian and Italian), but my parents could not. That didn't sound right to me, so I looked it up. Each country has different citizenship rules.
For Italy, if you voluntarily gave up your Italian citizenship to become a citizen somewhere else, you can't get it back (unless you go back to live there again, of course). So, because my sister and I didn't voluntarily become Canadians - my parents made the decision for us - we can have dual Italian/Canadian citizenship if we want. And it doesn't just apply to those born in Italy, which we were. It can go back to grandparents and I think even great-grandparents. So, if your grandmother moved to Canada from Italy and became a Canadian citizen, you (the Canadian-born grandchild) can qualify for dual citizenship. But your grandmother can't.
About Colin Firth - I thought he once said he held a Canadian citizenship, too, because he has a Canadian son with actress Meg Tilly. But maybe I'm remembering it wrong! I know it's something he brings up when he gets interviewed by Canadian reporters.

Dual nationality are very useful for people who had a family in their new country so it's silly to question him but people always do it with celebrities. I remember there was a fuss about Anthony Hopkins becoming American.
In this case I think The Guardian is malicious because the headline is suggesting his reason is because he is anti Brexit when everyone knows his family is from Italy. Although thinking about it I remember an article suggesting it would be more difficult for English actors to find work in European financed productions compared to European actors if Brexit concreted. In that case it would be also a good reason but it's too premature for Firth!

There are literally millions of men and women around the globe who would love to have that man! I’m gobsmacked. I suppose it’s possible he’s secretly an arsehole, but I seriously doubt it.
