To all the Irish and British members of the forum, keep yourself safe!
EDITED: I don’t know why I posted this in the Haters section! I guess my Unconscious Mind see hurricanes as haters or vice versa

Thanks Sgev. It’s supposed to hit Ireland from 6am onwards. Originally it was only the West that was on red alert. Now the whole Country is. We’re not used to this kind of thing. The last time we had a storm as strong as this was nearly 60 years ago so we’ve no idea what to expect. Hopefully I will still have a roof on my house this time tomorrow. 😱

It sounds incredible that Ireland could be hit by an hurricane. Here in Mexico, hurriacans are common and they could be devastating. I’m not on the coast but even my city had been affected by floods in the past. I understand the main warning in Ireland are because the strong winds.

Yeah. It is likely to be a very bad storm rather than a hurricane but still the worst we’ve had since 1961. Flooding is likely on the West coast. I live near the sea on the East Coast but it should have diminished in strength by the time it gets here. Nobody knows what to expect. Extreme weather is very unusual here.,

Be safe! 80 mph winds are pretty scary. Be sure you put all your lawn furniture away or it’s going to end up in the channel. We get 75 -100 mph winds frequently here in the winter. The top speed we clocked was 120 mph about 20 years ago. That was a terrifying storm. But because we’re a mile in the air the winds don’t pack quite a punch like they do at sea level.
My thoughts are with you.

Too windy to walk outside or to drive here in Dublin but otherwise not that severe. Much worse in South and West of Country. One woman dead so far - a tree fell on her car. It may get worse in Dublin later but so far it's not as bad as I was expecting.
