I'm not sure what Bob Weide's point is, since everyone (probably even HW) knows lots of colleagues who have no problem with them, or would not criticize them. Anyway as you said, nobody knows but WA and his daughter themselves, there is no way for all of his coworkers to know. Every horrible crime that happens, friends and family say "we had no idea!" In the past, Mariel Hemingway said he asked her to go to Paris as a teenager, then dropped the idea when she clarified that they should sleep separately. So nothing sexual actually happened (no thanks to WA) but it was still creepy and inappropriate. That said, the investigations of his daughter found him innocent, so I wouldn't think they could be held against him, except...if public opinion turns against a celebrity and they are no longer bankable for whatever reason, is that grounds to end a contract in a business dependent on public popularity and interest? I don't know that much about it. For example if you are a music artist, and your albums stop selling, can't your record label drop you from a contract without needing further reason? Is film the same? If actors won't work with him and the public won't watch him, is Amazon required to keep paying for movies likely to flop. I’m not sure the investigations found him innocent. My impression was that authorities decided not to pursue it because it wasn’t in the best interest of the child to do so at the time, because of what it would have involved for her to testify through continued proceedings. (I’ll see if I can find some references for that) But it was silly of Amazon to make a thing of it at this point without more to go on, when they could have easily made it a flat business decision to choose not to work with him anymore.

It’s actually very complex. I think he wasn’t charged because both investigation found the accusations weren’t credible. The first one was the one by Yale New-Haven Hospital which was questioned during the custody trial and is still be questioned now. This one was done because the prosecutor that said that asked for it but he wasn’t happy with the results/way it was managed. He later said he just wanted to know if she could testify and not the specialists to tell if she seemed a victim or not. Later, he directly interviewed the girl and he personally decided she wasn’t prepared to testify and (he said) that’s the reason he didn’t prosecuted him.
That was also criticized and Allen actually sued him. The prosecutor won first but the jury said it definitely wasn’t ethical to say you have a strong case against someone but don’t prosecuted him because the victim is (according to him and the mother) very vulnerable. Allen sued him again and the second time the prosecutor lost his license. He recuperated it in a third trial. Most recently, Allen, in his letter to Dylan, criticized him again and the guy publicly threatened Allen with a lawsuit for defamation! I don’t know if he did or not.
A second longer investigation in New York also found there wasn’t a case against Allen.
The question is if you really has a strong case against a child rapist, why let him go free? Those are very rarely just once in a lifetime crimes. That doesn’t seem ethical neither.
Anyway, people don’t like to accept it but the thing is until very recently wrongly or not most people considered Allen was cleared of those accusations. I think that’s why a lot of big names accepted to work with him.

Then there’s the numerous stories of all the feuding between Farrow and Allen and the really weird behaviour on both sides ending up with the children feuding with each other over what really happened. The whole situation is one massive can of worms.

I’ve never known what to think about this whole situation and I haven’t followed it very closely. All I know there’s a lot of rancor on both sides, and tons of accusations being flung around. It’s not “unusual” for men to be attracted to and have sex with minor women, although that doesn’t excuse the behavior at all. Some men get away with it because they’re rich or famous, or mostly, society has turned a blind eye to it as long as it’s done discreetly, which is disgusting, too.
I sincerely want to believe that he’s not guilty because I’ve loved his movies and his sense of humor for so long, but otoh, there’s something very strange about the whole thing. It’s creepy, no matter which way you cut it.

Well, one thing is being attracted to very young adult women and other to abuse prepubescent girls!
It’s very difficult situation and I think it could continue for decades! Ronan and Dylan accuse Allen of being a pedophile meanwhile Soon-Yi and Moses claims she was the abusieve one who fabricated all those lies. Also at least one of the Allen-Soon-Yi now adult daughters was also recently defending her father on Facebook (apparently the other one once also defended him on a journalist’s blog comment section after the journalist suggested they two surely were also victims of him but it’s difficult to know if it was really her). I suspect that those families will continue fighting even when Allen and Farrow aren’t here anymore!
TBH I see Allen side more interested that this thing is discussed in a legal formal setting than the Farrows, who seem to prefer social media drama. They were directly asking to actors and actresses on Twitter to publicly denounced him and to journalists to questioning people who worked with him. After Cate Blanchet was asked and she said that she preferred to believe in due process, Dylan criticized her on Twitter saying that she can’t sue him anymore because the statute of limitations. A few people including Bob Weide and Samantha Geimer (Polanski’s victim. Remember that Mia Farrow defended him saying he was a great artist so he shouldn’t be in jail even when he admitted to rape a girl?) send her links to official sites that seemed to suggest that she actually can still sue him in a civil court! They both asked her to do it. I think that’s what she should do instead of using the press (which right now it’s almost completely on her side) and attack innocent people.
Probably Allen lawsuit won’t go to court. I imagine Amazon would just negotiate with him and pay him. But it would be a great opportunity for both sides to crarify stuff if it does

There was a very dramatic and tragic case here in Mexico.
Since a few days ago some Twitter accounts dedicated to MeToo movement appeared. Each one has a theme, one is to accuse famous writers, other for journalists, other for academics, etc. The problem is they are anonymous. There aren't accusers, just the accused. I discovered they existed because a friend send me a DM with a tweet accusing someone I know. He was named on the writers account. I don't know if he is guilty of harassing young women as it said. I know him but he isn't a friend or anything so I can't be sure about nothing! Still, I told my friend I didn't liked the anonymous nature of all that! It make the movement looks more like a blind item gossip Internet site than something serious.
Well, yesterday someone died. The bass player of an early 90s band, Botellita de Jerez killed himself after being accused of harassing a 13 years old girl a decade ago. He actually posted his suicide letter on Twitter, claiming he was innocent but he just didn't know how to clear his name and didn't wanted to affect the reputation of his son. By the way, he was also a children's books writer and he was worried about being finished because even if he confirmed his innocence his name will always be associated with the accusation and won't be hired by editorials to write for kids anymore. He said this on an audio released by a friend. Yes, there is also an audio out there!
This of course provoked all kind of reactions. There is misogynistic stuff but TBH the worst I have read are by young girls who call themselves feminists. Very disappointing! They are celebrating his death! Actually there were tweets after he posted the note but before the news about his death, telling him to do it, to kill himself (supposedly one of the authors of those tweets is the woman behind the account that accused him. Not the supposedly victim who doesn't have name nor face but the Twitter account owner).
I don't know if he was guilty or not but he clearly had issues. As a few people have said he surely was suicidal beforehand and the accusation was *just* the trigger (there were reports that he also had money problems and, yes, depression) but c'mon there is a big difference of someone in that state of mind misinterpreting mundane things as negative to being anonymously accused of something so bad and being told to kill yourself by the mob. It's just not the right way and I can't see anything ethical in it!
They didn't just helped to destroy the life of a man and his family without having actual proof of his wrongdoings but they are also damaging the case of women who are harassed and abused out there in the real world. It's all so vile!

Jesus, that’s horrible. Social media is a spreading, toxic swamp of hate and ignorance. Disgusting. Poor guy.

Ditto to what QZ said. It's like trial by "social media accusations" now. The only thing is that the accused doesn't get a chance to speak to the charges before being pronounced guilty. Very sad state of affairs.

The thing is, some stuff also gets picked up by news/opinion networks and hashed to death, continuing to spread misinformation. I’m thinking of the recent Joe Biden accusations, which are flimsy and threaten to derail his presidential campaign even before he’s announced! It’s crazy!

I just denounced two comments on Twitter against the woman who is accused of being behind the account that posted the accusation.- I don't know if she is really behind it but she undoubtedly told him to kill himself (after he announced his intentions) from her personal account. I would have denounced her, too if I have seen it at the time.
The point is the bully is now being bullied! So yes, social media is the worst! And no, neither of them are teenegers! She seems to be in his 30s and the musician was a 60 years old man.
EDITED: By the way, she is a journalist. Not an important one but it kind of help the theory that Twitter is full of freelance (pseudo) journalists who are fanaticized by pseudo-social causes.
I stopped commenting on Twitter dramas years ago. I really think it only helps to feed the beast no matter in what side you are.
