PBS has a special on tomorrow night called “Masterpiece - 50 Fabulous Years”. Although Sherlock isn’t mentioned in the description, they just showed an ad for it on tv, and it included a brief clip of Benedict as Sherlock. I was going to watch it anyway, but now it will be a lot more interesting!

They’re half-way through the special, and they have devoted about 3 minutes to Sherlock. It’s pretty obvious that they just wanted to get together to praise Downton Abbey. I was reminded of the emails PBS Masterpiece used to send to announce the new season of Sherlock. The emails first went on and on about how you can watch past episodes of Downton Abbey, and at the end there would be a sentence like “oh, and by the way, the new season of Sherlock starts this week.”
Alan Cumming, who’s hosting the special, said that Sherlock was “sexily” played by Benedict Cumberbatch. Ha! No one has said anything like that about Downton Abbey!

It still cracks me up that the BBC was so bummed when they heard BC was playing Sherlock. “You promised us a sexy Sherlock. Benedict Cumberbatch? He’s not sexy.”
Who’s got the last laugh now? 😂😂😂
