i just heard the wind howling, and looked out the window to see a dusting of snow on everything. It's not much, but it still counts as our first snowfall of the winter. Just two days ago I was outside in the sunshine cleaning the windows! I haven't even raked the leaves in my backyard yet because most of the leaves are still on the tree. What crazy weather! Even the animals are confused. I live near a wooded area, so deer are a common sight - but usually when it's dark out. Yesterday, there was a small deer running around outside in the bright sunshine.
Tomorrow, I'll have to dig out my gloves and scarves and hats. Winter is back!
That's it for my weather report!

About two weeks ago we randomly had a mini snow-storm. It lasted about a day and now it's 10c and raining. Oh joy. Everyone rushed to change into their winter tires and for nothing it seems. Oh weather...

Well, I have to say that we are enjoying beautiful Summer days and nights. The only problem is that I'm working.

We had our second snowfall of the season. It was the first I witnessed though (the other one was in the morning and Dan and I slept our way through it). Really quite cold (into the minus range but by mid-February I’ll consider these temps on the mild side) and very blustery this morning. I am keeping our waterfall flowing though because the wildlife still are drinking from it. Even the chipmunks are still foraging for food so winter isn’t really here until they disappear for me! Have to clean out the garage though today because in the colder weather we always put the car in there to keep the snow off of it! PITA!!

It's very cold today but sunny enough that most of the snow has already melted. I bought a new car in April that has heated seats and steering wheel, which I thought were completely unnecessary. But now I'm kind of looking forward to using those features!

Now our area has been placed under a Snow Squall Warning today. Expected 5- 10 cm and more if “lake effect snow” is present (which is exactly what we will experience since we live only a 2 minute walk from Lake Huron). All morning it has been a blizzard one minute and completely clear the next. Dan and I are going out for a long walk later and I had to dig out our thermo undies to be properly dressed. The wind has been howling all day!
I don’t really mind - I like the winter... up to mid-January. Anything beyond that (and it is a given that it will go well beyond that!) and it has just outstayed its welcome!

And I live only a 5 minute walk to Lake Ontario - so we have two of the Great Lakes covered!
They're not predicting any more snow for us for a while, thank goodness!

I had to go out to buy a new bookcase and I ended up cleaning the snow off our car three times! It is really coming down now - looks like a blizzard and there is a lot of accumulation on the ground.

Nothing like snow here yet, it's not cold at all, but then snow is a rarity at any time of year here (Southern UK), even though quite a bit further north than the great lakes (thanks to the gulf stream keeping us warm). Might get a sprinkle about every 3rd year, maybe, but that's usually about it. But there were two recent years together a while back (2009/10, I think) when there were very long, very cold, cold snaps with terribly unusual snow and ice that started very early too (November) and didn't go away for months, not till late January. Yet now some are predicting that this winter is going to be one of the WORST EVER and they are ignoring 2010 as if no more than a minor blip on the scale of bad winters! And the cold is potentially starting as early as this weekend when an "Arctic blast" is expected to hit. Finland will presumably be even more in the line of fire (sic!). But I hope they're seriously exaggerating the threat. I'm not good with very cold weather. Can't stand heat either, it has to stay nicely middling for me!
