I watched The Shape of Water and totally disliked it. Full of common places, stereotypes and cartoonish characters. It looks like a story written by a teenager (from tumblr's SJWs Lol) I prefer Crimson Peak over TSoW, which has a crap script but is visually gorgeous. The Creature, according to Del Toro, "It is a river God. It’s not an animal. It’s a river God in the Amazon." He calls them "it" though. io9.gizmodo.com/if-you-wanted-to-know-where-the-shape-of-waters-fishman-1821051561I was reading reviews (this year I tried not to read them before watching the movies) and I came to this one: www.vulture.com/2017/09/the-shape-of-water-is-an-utterly-lovely-but-complacent-movie.htmlwhere the author writes " Meanwhile, he’s not unattractive. No visible sex organs, but slender and broad-shouldered and tall. The pale face in the middle of those undulating gills has the alien-reptile handsomeness of Benedict Cumberbatch." WTF?!

My first thought was: who wrote that? LOL I think Edelstein had described BC in similar terms in the past. I think he is trying to be complementary to the beast, tho.: "He is not ugly! He is kinda handsome"

Hmm, Mr. Edelstein and I have very different definitions of "not unattractive."
