I was hoping for Spike Jonze or the Coen Bros., but this is good too.

I just watched the video. It's the same article! I love that he thought he was auditioning in his first meeting with the producers. He didn't knew the part was his!

I'm sure I read an interview with either Edward St. Aubyn or the writer of the screenplay, who said that as soon as he found out that Benedict was interested in the role, he continued writing with Benedict in mind. So the part was kind of written for him!

So the part was kind of written for him! I seem to recall the same, but not with any thought that it might have been St Aubyn himself (called Teddy by BC, I noticed). I think it was Nicholls.

The author of How to Stop Time said that. I think Sunny March bought the rights of an early draft of the book so he said since he knew BC wanted to play the main character he did the rewritting thinking in him.
There is an interview with David Nicholls in that new Pilot magazine. The scans should be posted in this thread. I don't remember but maybe he said something similar. Edward St Aubyn ended the books much before this project. The last one is from 2011 so it wasn't him. Actually there was that movie with another actor playing Patrick a few years ago (2012?).
