Vanity Fair is saying Netflix is showing Patrick Melrose? I would love that, but I'm sure it's an error.

I'm sure I read an interview with either Edward St. Aubyn or the writer of the screenplay, who said that as soon as he found out that Benedict was interested in the role, he continued writing with Benedict in mind. So the part was kind of written for him! It was David Nicholls! He said it again in the Daily Mail article! I think originally they were adapting the first two books. Or at least that was what the press reported! The adaptation of Mother’s Milk was very recent! No one is mentioning that adaptation! Gerry Fox is actually a respected documentary director but it seems his only fiction movie was just too literal. Still it’s crazy because 5 years ago BC was a little too old for playing Bad News’ Patrick and he we are 41-Years old BC playing him!

Yes, they asked Hugo Weaving to compare David Melrose to Agent Smith! I guess it’s not that bad to be asked about Sherlock every time! 😉
Also I like Jennifer Jason Leigh interpretation of her role. The mother is clearly despised by Edward St Aubyn in the books! He don’t forgave her the disinheritance but Jason Leigh thinks for her character is an act of love (I guess a little like Henry VI in The Hollow Crown). There is a sense in the books that it’s much better not to be rich, indeed! And yes, Patrick Melrose doesn’t find redemption until he become the thing his father hated the most: a middle class man!
