I just saw that gecko in the bathtube photo! That's a reference to the rape scene! I'm wondering now if they will actually show the scene. That interview with the scriptwriter suggested they wouldn't and I doubt they will do something so brutal as in the book but I guess the lizard should be explained in some way

I think there are many ways of showing the importance of the 🦎 gecko without being too specific.
On a lighter note - BC does seem to end up in bathtubs a fair amount - Parade’s End, Hawking, TCiT, Patrick Melrose... were there any others?
:-))

So...I wonder if there is any way for people without Showtime to see it?

I hope he is right and it really pays off! Although it seems HBO is doing the same but with TV movies. They did it with Wizard of Lies with Roger De Niro and they will do it in April with Al Pacino’s Paterno.

Well, I have Kodi... :-)) so I will be able to see it. But I had my nephew install it for me because I don’t have any real computer skills!

I don't have Showtime, and I've accepted that I won't be able to watch it when it's on. I have a better shot at watching it online when it airs in the UK, although I don't know how to do that, either. I'm sure it will be out on DVD eventually, so I'll see it then.

Hi M, do you have Amazon, particularly Amazon Prime? I was able to add Showtime a while back when there was something I wanted to catch up on. I had just made a note to myself to cancel it this week, and then this news came outout - I guess I'm keeping it til May LOL! The content can be watched through my laptop if I log into Amazon, but also on my tv - my sister and her husband updated their tv last year and gave me their old smart tv, so there's an option to watch Amazon prime through that .

No, I don’t have Amazon. It is possible to subscribe to the streaming service that includes Showtime, but I already have Netflix and don't want to spend more money. And because Patrick Melrose will be on for 5 weeks, even a free trial period wouldn't be enough to watch it all. I guess eventually all five episodes will be there at the same time to be binge-watched, but I hope it will be out on DVD by then. The only reason I originally got Netflix was to watch Sherlock, but by the time the free trial period ended, I was so addicted to it that I've kept it! I don't gave a smart tv, but I don't mind watching shows on my computer or iPad.

This is an interesting speculation: thisdancingheart.tumblr.com/post/171968737399/melrose-and-emmy-award-eligibilityI saw a few people speculating about it yesterday, including an awards pundit site but I haven’t noticed how good it fits with the dates in the rule. It doesn’t necessarily means something. Maybe Showtime is interested in awards or maybe not. We can also speculate about the novelty date of the transmission. That was considered a bad date until recently but probably new technology changed it as Sneider suggests it in the tweet above. Also they are beginning something new with Patrick Melrose and taking a risk with it that could affect their plans so probably they want something promising. We will see!
