I doubt he would do an official statement but he is doing press so it’s very probable he will be asked again. I’m not sure he would be in the know, tho.
I’m sure both of them are mature and intelligent enough to understand how British press works.

I don’t think BC should release a statement. It would just dignify the silly headlines by his bothering to address them. If some people want to believe what the tabloids write then so what.

I’m sure both of them are mature and intelligent enough to understand how British press works. I don't think he should make an "official" statement about it, but I do hope he gets asked about it again so that he can explain that he was misquoted. That's how Martin handled being misquoted about Sherlock not being fun anymore. Not that it made any difference, because the media prefers nasty headlines.

The headlines have changed a bit. They're now saying that Sherlock won't be returning because Martin isn't having fun and he and Benedict don't get along. So that's just another reason for fans to go after Martin!
I've been avoiding reading comments, but a couple caught my attention. One person said that it was about time Martin was replaced, anyway, and Sherlock would be better without him. Another comment said that it wasn't a surprise that Benedict called Martin "pathetic" because of the whole "posh" thing that I'll never understand. They also added the usual remarks about how ugly, untalented and overrated he is.
Thankfully, one sane person on Twitter said that both of their comments were taken out of context and misunderstood.

Well, the good news is that nothing these ignoramouses say will affect whether or not there’s going to be more Sherlock. The press can spread falsehoods all they like, but if Stephen and Mark & Co. are moved to make more, they will. I think it would be a huge error to get rid of Martin. He brings so much to the show, rooting it in a kind of reality that is uniquely his. And from what Martin said recently he’s not against it, he just doesn’t like the applied BS from various sources.

Actually most negative comments are directed to poor Freeman. Undeservedly! They are casting BC as the good guy and MF as the villain. The negative against BC that I have seen are clearly by haters (people who mentions physicality, for example) and uber-Freeman fans who hate BC.
But yes, it's over American press now! Actually I found funny that Vanity Fair called it "the most politely worded mini-feud in history". So yes, some publication know it's just a storm in a teacup! They ironically "compare" it to the Kim Cattrall vs Sarah Jessica Parker thing.

Yes - in a recent interview, he attempted to clarify his comments. I like the way he did it, saying something like "we all love making the show" and "we know how lucky we've been", and he complimented Benedict and his acting. And he said he knows that his role in Sherlock is probably the best job he'll ever have.
So why aren't those websites putting any of those comments in their headlines?

Because the clickbait factor. It's awful, I know! But I hope most people are smart enough now to understand they are worthless. I think they both know the maliciousness of the press so I'm sure they don't take personally those headlines. I hope that's the case!

I'm literally laughing to a new piece published by The Sun. It's so awful! They are creating a crazy narrative about the pseudo-Cumberbatch-Freemsn feud!!! I will post the whole thing here so anyone gives them another click!
At least they didn't mention the Syrian refugees!!! Or the shed!!!

It's really annoying that with all the new interviews this week, A:IW premiere and Patrick Melrose in a couple of weeks, when you google BC three different articles on this same theme pop up.
