Piers Morgan has it in for BC ever since he overheard him saying he didn’t like him at some event. And ever since BC appealed for help for Migrants he has been public enemy No 1 in the right wing, Brexit supporting, sections of the press and social media. He would be more popular if he just kept his mouth shut and stuck to acting but that’s not him and I’m glad! I think it’s hugely to his credit that he has such a well developed social conscience. But there is no doubt he has paid a price for it with certain vocal sections of the public who are either ill informed or who deliberately misinterpret and sometimes downright lie about what he says. THIS! A thousand times over! Perfectly said, ellie! :-))

This made me laugh (but not because I thought his very bad joke was funny, of course!)
Yep, Rob Schneider is making fun of BC!!! EDITED: Believe it or not! That girl is his much younger wife and she is Mexican from my city. He is a popular character here because he promotes a lot one of out local soccer teams (the wife was apparently always a super fan). I doubt most people here know he is very Conservative, tho. Not that people here is very Liberal but there is not too much sympathy for Republicans right now. For obvious reasons!

I just saw someone on Twitter comparing his words to Brie Larson's quote of wanting more blacks and women during her press tour. According to him, BC was a applauded meanwhile she was criticized. I know it's politically useful but it's a lie! He was also criticized and a few people also made fun of him! See above Rob Schneider and Piers Morgan. There were more.
Also the thing he was promoting was voted down on Rotten Tomatoes before it was released. Probably that's the part that kind of bothers me because it was Patrick Melrose which not just was great but some award pundits actually reported that the series was acclaimed by critics but hated by audiences based just in those EXTREMELY early "reviews" (they ignored that was very well received by users on Amazon, IMDb, Facebook and Twitter).
Those fools on RT are just trolls but it's always big franchise the ones that are defended.

People put too much on RT. If a movie interests you, see it. If not, don’t. Simple. How many movies have you liked that got trashed? For me, lots. Some of my fav movies of all time have gotten bad/mediocre reviews.
Especially in this day of rabid sjkw idiots trying to ruin the fun for everyone.

I haven't seen Capt. Marvel yet, but I am SO glad that it is doing well, after all the MRA trolls complained all over the internet that they were boycotting and it would fail. $760M in 12 days!

They are a minority and EXTREMELY insignificant. They would never win over a very popular franchise that was announced as a continuation of a huge movie (Infinity War). It didn't even matter the lukewarm reviews.
I don't think general audiences care if the hero is a woman or black, it is just trolls, from both sides, on Internet who moan about those things. Audiences just want to watch their silly Marvel superheroes!
Anyway RT should indeed ban early reviews. It used to happen the same on IMDb. Remember when Downton Abby fans voted down Parade's End before its airing because BC joked that DA was shit? LOL Probably the difference was that press didn't use to write articles about what random people on Internet said!
