That's a really good find! I've always been quite interested in "Flying Horse" as a project, irrespective of whether BC is involved. But Gary Oldman had a history of failing to get various other personal projects through to fruition after "Nil By Mouth", which was 20 years ago now, even before "Flying Horse" apparently fell at the last fence(lol) before, so close to expected production that Ralph Fiennes had even grown the beard. So I am a bit surprised that it's back in the frame now. Surprised, but pleased for him. Am suspecting that this may be Oscar having had a positive effect.
I didn't read that article as necessarily suggesting that GO will be playing Muybridge this time around, though. "Writing, directing and starring" does sort of suggest it, but "starring" someone is too loosely used, too often, to only mean having a role rather than necessarily being the "lead". But given the Oscar effect, it wouldn't entirely surprise me if he was indeed set to have to sport the beard instead. As a (relatively inexperienced) director as well, though, that's a big ask. And if that was what he wanted before, rather than concentrating on the directing of his screenplay, then one would have thought that's what he would have had rather than talking about BC and RF as his ultimate cast of choice (or words to that effect). And with GO, as well, what a cast that would have been! Personally, I think it's a bit unlikely that BC will be involved now, and I have no idea how busy RF is, but it will be interesting to see what develops!
