Sophie’s outfit is hideous.

IMO I think both BC and Sophie look quite nice. I don’t find anything inappropriate or “hideous” about her outfit. It isn’t a favourite of mine on her, but I really don’t see where there is anything outright horrible about it. It might be if it were inappropriate for the occasion or if her attire stuck out like a sore thumb in amongst the other attendees but I don’t think this is the case at all.
It is almost the same colour as BC’s suit except for the very small subdued red dot pattern (that disappears at almost any distance) and I like the red accent pumps she is wearing as well (adds a bit of cheeriness to the outfit which is fine at a less formal “thanksgiving” memorial service). The fit is loose and breezy but not sloppy and that probably is just right for warm weather. Her shoulders, knees and chest area are modestly covered (as per etiquette rules for such occasions). This wasn’t a funeral and lots of people worn brighter, less formal wear (Stephen Hawking’s daughter Lucy wore almost an identical colour of blue with her dress).
:-))

What I always wonder when I see photos like this: where's Sophie's purse? Even if her outfit has pockets, they wouldn't be enough to hold the stuff that I carry around. I can understand that at red-carpet events, there are assistants nearby holding purses, but that wouldn't happen for this event today, would it? The very minimum I always have with me is phone, keys, lipstick, a bit of cash, credit card, comb, pen, ID (or driver's licence I'm driving), gum, Kleenex. I can fit all that in a small clutch, but my every-day purses carry a lot more. I have a cousin who worked as an assistant for a local politician for a couple of years, and his job involved living in Ottawa temporarily and attending meetings and other important events with her. I asked him if he was present at some of the photos I'd seen online and on the news, and he said yes, but he was off-camera. He said the moment people started snapping photos, his boss would hand her purse to him to hold while she posed. It wasn't just him - all the assistants walked along carrying their bosses' belongings, although he was usually the only male assistant with a female boss. I never wonder about that sort of thing because mainly I don’t even carry a purse, I guess! Since I got a cell phone I do now carry a really small purse like cross-body “thing” that the phone fits into but that’s about it most days. Even when I do have a real purse it is very tiny - big enough for the phone, my keys, ID and a tissue. The only time I carry a big satchel is when I am on a trip and then it serves as part luggage and is for toting around guide books and souvenirs (and snacks). But then you are looking at a person who spent a month in England and only brought one carry-on as luggage! So I travel LIGHT as much as possible. As far as Sophie is concerned - perhaps she did have someone carrying her purse at this event but I don’t think so. I think she just travelled light and has any bare essentials (like maybe a tissue or a tube of lipstick) in her pocket?? Maybe Ben is carrying that sort of stuff for her??? LOL! Maybe that’s what he has in that always present satchel that he totes around?? :-)) :-))

I knew you would say that!!! Fashion is subjective I know and I love lots of Sophie’s outfits. I think that she usually dresses very well but I really do think today’s outfit is perfectly hideous in every respect possible and does nothing for her. She looks like she slept in, had no time to get dressed then popped a pair of red heels and hoped nobody would notice she was still wearing her pyjamas.

Wow! I can't even imagine that! I love purses, and I would carry one even if I had nothing to put in it. I guess I think of them as accessories.
I actually gave an Ikea wardrobe just for my purses. When I moved to my current house, I found I no longer needed that wardrobe for clothing, so I filled it with my purses, instead. I love that I can open the doors and see them all. When I was Italy a few years back, I came back with a suitcase full of gorgeous purses. I don't spend a lot of money on them, though. I never spent more than $20 (Canadian) on any if my Italian purses.

Ha! That's always a problem with wearing loose, flowy clothes - epecially when they're a colour that could be pyjamas. I think this is more of that "baggy" trend that we've seen already on both Benedict and Sophie. I suppose this trend is a reaction to too many years of women wearing leggings everywhere!
Her outfit is probably silk and very expensive, and I'm sure it looked better in person.

I got special shelves put in each so I can store everything neatly. I do love my accessories. 😁👜👡
